• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the GPS waterproof?

I just picked up my 2014 RT LTD yesterday and today I plan to mount up the GPS and learn how to use it.

Can anyone tell me if the stock GPS is waterproof? I would not want to get hit with a rainstorm and get the thing fried.

Depends..!

the one brp sells (Zumo) are. I use the regular one and works even in the rain but have a cover for it. You will be fine in all weather with the zumo..!!

I suppose another question needs asking...
If the 660 isn't hooked to the bike; how careful do you need to be around the mount? Will those two covers keep everything cozy?

okay... TWO questions! :D

File the rubber cover in the big round filing cabinet. I keep the plastic cover in the storage case. So if I take the GPS off it goes in the case and the cover goes on the mount or vise versa.

The Garmin Zumo model (keep in mind it is the Zumo model and not others for now) are made for outdoor usage, so they are waterproof.

As others have stated, the 660, 665, and the new 590 are completely waterproof; however, the cradle is susceptible to moisture issues if water seeps onto the pins. Keeping the cradle protected is important, so don't disconnect the GPS in the rain. Also, whenever washing the Spyder, I always take off the GPS and put on the cap...AND the rubber boot. It is an added layer of protection. I probably shouldn't even take off the GPS but I do anyway.

For those who have not trashed the rubber boot, dress it occasionally with some vinyl/plastic dressing like Armorall. Keeps it looking nice and prevents it from getting a powdery film. ...Don

That is good advise, or put a decal over it, maybe a spyder
