• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a Code Reader for the Spyder?

Is there anyone who sells anything similar to an OBDII code reader for a Can Am? Excellent bike and very fun, but I can't believe Can Am is so anal that they won't let anyone sell a code reader for their bike others that the BUDS!

Code readers don't work on Spyders, just BUDS. Some codes don't even follow the typical cars and trucks codes!

Believe it!! nojoke

And if you hang around Spyders for long enough, you'll find that it's not the only thing that you feel you can't believe BRP have done; but eventually you'll come to realise that you have no choice BUT to Believe!! :gaah:

When I got the dreaded Limp Home warning my brother knew the right 3 buttons to push and that revealed P340 I believe, which a quick check on my phone told me was the cam position sensor. I don't remember the right 3 buttons for my bike, but I got a phone to call my brother. After the fix, the bike ran really well.

Try press & hold mode & settings buttons & push in on blinker(cancel function). Believe works 2013& up. As far as codes goes we had SpyderCodes app till about 2015 when BRP forced Roger out. If was lucky enough to already have the app works great for earlier models. Still had to retrieve codes from display, then app would define issue & components involved. & other features. Very useful unlike Kenda tires ~they….:dontknow::dontknow::banghead:

**still we LOVE our Spyders & what freedoms they allow:riding::riding:

I haven't posted it yet because I didn't want to steal this person's thunder but there is an adapter you can buy to hook up an OBD II Code Reader and read a good bit of the Can Bus info on 2020+ machines.

He is getting ready to post up info on it on facebook in the F3 group and I asked him to cross post it here when he is ready. No, you can't read BUDS codes or do anything that BUDS does as far as programming or resetting codes, but you do have access to a whole plethora of other info.

I have ordered one of the adapters to try it out with torque to see what I can pull up and the adapter is only about $13 US.

The adapter mates to the Deutsch DB6 CAN connector on the Spyder. I've made my own. The CANBUS messages are quite easy to read although BRP seems intent on running the 500kHz bus at capacity.:D

The problem, at least for pre-2020 machines, is while the messages comply with the OBD standard, they only comply with the manufacturer-specific part. Which is allowed because the Spyder is a specialized motor vehicle with a low production quantity.

However, if the 2020+ machines comply with regular OBD codes, this would be a pleasant surprise. Keep us informed please.

megagame has done some amazing things with the Spyder's CANBUS. His work is worth studying carefully. He published his CANBUS message analysis. I believe the PDF is from Roger's work.

Are you able to post the link to the adapter yet? Just bought a 2024 and would like to have it on hand. :)
