• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It's not a tire question... It's a VSS question.

I may likely be in the market for new front tires for my '12 RTL in the near future do to some wobble issues, so I'm investigating...Is this a load or not? How much effect on VSS is non-Kenda tires?
This is from the Operators Guide:
The VSS on the vehicle has been calibrated to perform best with a tire of a specific size, material and tread pattern. Replacing your tires with ones not approved by BRP can cause the VSS to be ineffective. Use only BRP recommended tires, which can be ordered only from an authorized Can-Am roadster dealer.

I'll ask a tire question later! :D

Sounds like crap, just another way to lock you into tires that may or may not be the best options, surely not the best price. Can you see BMW, GM or anyone else try this? Just a guess, but I think that the auto industries VSS systems are as or more sophisticated than BRPs.

IMHO

" NONE ".......BRP might like you to believe otherwise so they can sell their over priced tires.....But the computer can't tell what tire you have AS LONG AS IT'S WITHIN A CIRCUMFERENCE similar to the OEM tire....Mike

:agree: I've been running the Kuhmo Solus KH16, P185/65R-14, on my '08 GS for the last year and a half. No Problem.........but I did have to shim the fenders....

The key words in that BRP statement are 'CAN CAUSE'. Which is true. If you put some crazy, ridiculous tires on you could well have issues. Otherwise, you'll be fine. Just stay within reasonable parameters.

I don't blame BRP. They not only are pretty much REQUIRED to make CYA statements like this. It is also self serving. Win/win for BRP.

:agree::agree::agree: The VSS system only monitors how the vehicle reacts to your inputs (Like steering & braking).
If it gets an inkling that something isn't right; it'll step in...
Tires spinning at different rates, steering inputs that are more or less than expected...)
If tread patterns and rubber compounds cause the tires to slide around a bit; then BRP correct.
...But they ARE using language that is mis-leading. :banghead:
