• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Just a CB Antenna, Puh-leeeeze?

SilverSurfer

RT-S PE#0391
I have seen many threads about full CB system installation; one has a Spyder RT owner with his RT completely torn down to put in BRP's RT CB radio. I have no such ambition ... I'm a simple man of simple needs. So uhkay: Looking at the back of my RT-S, I have the AM/FM radio whip on the right. On the left, I have nothing except the plug that one pops out to accommodate the second antenna.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS: Install a CB antenna on the left-rear of the Spyder using the existing location meant to do so. I intend to extend the CB antenna coaxial down in back of/under the seat, so when I use my Midland 75-822 portable, I can use the power sources I already have under the seat along with the antenna coax, to attach to my portable radio. When I don't have the Midland with me, I disconnect the power and antenna and coil neatly under the seat until next use. It's not elegant, but it's not a $975.00 CB solution either. I want to be able to hook my Midland portable to a mounted antenna to acheive range.

I have never seen an explanation or illustration on how to just install a CB antenna in the unused antenna bay on the rear of a Spyder RT. I know that Can Am sells a "replacement antenna kit," which includes antenna, mounting hardware and grounding strap. However, they don't have a picture of the kit, and I don't know if the the kit comes with adequate installation instructions.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Paul

keep in mind that you would have to install a "No Ground Plane" antenna. These have very long cables, which should not be shortened. You would have to coil up and hide the excess. I suspect you will also have to rig up the mount and the boot on your own.
