If you are interested, just picked up the Kewlmetal air intake at cruisercustomizing.com for $230.99 after using coupon code TAKE10. Thought I would pass it on

Air filter kit..

Are you talking about the air filter kit..?? Good discount they run 10% higher direct. Now we have a second sponsor/supplier for air filter kits @ JT's Machine shop. He uses a high flow paper Wix air cleaner as opposed th the oiled K&N used by Kewl Metal. If you haven't installed it yet you will love it if you like real engine sounds and a bit more pep...

Well that is news to me. According to the girlfriend, I spend way to much time on here so how did I not know about that? LOL

Not your fault..!!

JT just started selling his units recently. This place grows leaps and bounds and it's hard to keep up...you need to be here daily..:roflblack:

Now I am really confused. You say that the Wix is a high flow but on JT's website he says that he decided to go with the Wix because it has better characteristics even though the K&N has better flow. Would be nice to have more pics of everything you get with JT's. Not sure if I get all the bolts, hoses etc also. I do see that he does not include the breather hose filter and recommends to remove resonator? A bit different than Kewlmetal?

Here what you get...

Filter, top plate, bottom plate, throttle body adapter oil breather hose with two worm gear clamps brass hose adapter six mounting screws and zip ties to replace the ones removed. Mine is an RS so I did need to get a breather for the idle air sensor. On ours the air box comes out much easier than the RT's
20140406_122336.jpg the little blue filter was $9.00 at auto parts store. Sorry don't have pic of parts pre installation. 20140406_122724.jpg I may switch over to the K&N when this one is done...

I'm grandfathered in with mine but, I heard the govt banned the use of a yellow intake because it was to fast for street use. :roflblack:

So question for the people that are using these , I like how it unclutters under the plastic and makes things easier to get to with the of out of the way , the idea of a performance intake is to pull in cold air , cold air atomizes with the fuel better. On my. 13 the air box is different and it pulls air in from the left side from outside under the body. Did your bike run better with this installed since it's pulling in hot air from the engine and exhaust under all the plastic ?

I added an Atwood blower and duct with a thermostatic control to pull cold air from the fender to the intake. I will post pics when I get home later today.

Here is the blower that I put in. Can't really get a pic of the duct going into the fender, but you can see the clamp. The duct is the one from the stock airbox. In the second pic, you can see the probe for the thermostatic control (silver stick wired up along the frame). The control is in the lower left corner of the first pic.

Canceled my kewlmetal order this morning and placed an order with JTS MACHINE SHOP. Cheaper and he had the kit ready to go. I actually had a kewlmetal kit a while ago that I bought used and sold it cause my buddy that's a mechanic at the harleydavi dealer made a similar comment about pulling in the hot air as opposed to the stock air box that somewhat collects cold air. However I am getting sick of the oil in the air box and sick of not having any room to work under the plastics.

I've had KM's website open in a tab for a couple days now as I was compiling a list of things I was preparing to order from various sites.

So thank you for your post cause I didn't know JT had a similar solution, plus being a site sponsor is also a plus.

I too just placed my order with JT. Looking forward to getting that done, not the work to do it, but getting it done. Already have plugs and wires from Bajaron so it'll be nice to get that all done at the same time.

I have had my airbox off quiet a few times for various reasons. It is really not that bad. Pretty much became a pro at it. I would bet that I can have mine 100% done in under 45min

Interesting..!!

We always put the full open filters on not for cool air but volume of air. Under the hood of the car the heat was the same with the can on or off. The air drawn in was limited to the flow through the small opening on the snorkel. We ran velocity stacks as well, what we did was run our fuel through a cooling can which helped. Fuel injection is a bit differen. With the airbox out air flow in the engine compartment is much better therefore not as hot. I will be adding turbo fans which will help with cooler air but not the volume. Jmo...

JT air filter kit

Completed the installation a couple of days ago but did not have a chance to really test it out until this afternoon. JT included everything I needed for the job. Temperature was 95 today and when riding in those temps before it really got hot under the seat and had a heavy gas vapor smell when I would stop or park the spyder. Today the heat issue for me was gone. I did notice that the two black plastic vents under the rear view mirrors now really let the heat out from under the tupperware. In the past I only felt the heat there when stopped or at the end of the ride. I did remove the airbox and resonator. A real pain in the A** but it did come out in one piece. Oil in the air box was minimal Not sure I would ever put it back in but never say never. Thanks JT for a good product at a reasonable price.

Don't know if you are joking or serious but I would totally do it. Love working on things and helping people, that would let me do both.

I was only joking because it would be so far away, would be cool though.
