A quick recap of our trip to lake placid.

Lake placid and the surrounding areas are just beautiful. No matter where you ride its awesome, including the ride up and back on 87. If you like trees, mountains, lakes and waterways this place is a must see.

Thanks to Chuck(spydaman60), Russ & Eric + wives for picking us up in kingston, NY where we road up together. It was comforting go so far(for us) to know we werent alone. Thanks guys!

WE stopped on RT 73 for lunch, and up to that point had great weather. While eating we could see it getting dark outside and sure enough when getting ready for the final 25 miles or so its started to rain. And i do mean RAIN. Of course we had no rain gear(newbs) . When it slowed down, the wife and I decided to go for it. About 2.5 miles down the road it started to **** pour again. Visibility was about 10 feet. We made it safely to the hotel. The Crown Resort is a VERY nice place with great views from up high over the town. Highly recommend.

After unpacking, and hanging all our wet gear up we went to the tale of the pup. It was about 3 miles down the road and first time we actually road with only helmets on. We finally got to meet Dave & Teddy, Randy, Len, StevieMac & john. did meet Fraser & his wife briefly in the hotel parking lot. There were more but my memory isnt great. People were coming and going there and the rain put a damper on things i'm sure.

Friday we decided to do the Vermont scene including 2 of the Ferries(or as Len would call them, Fairys, lol). Essex to charlotte & Grand Isle to Plattsburgh. A bit of rain in VT so we decided to have lunch. It pretty much stopped until getting to Plattsburgh. 50 miles from the hotel was in a steady but not heavy rain. Still fun & lake champlain is huge and beautiful.

Friday night was the best night we had up there. Len, Stevie Mac and john(elka) came up the hill and met us at the bar. We laughed for hours on end and was a great time. Thanks guys, even the Missus hung in there.

Saturday we stopped by the rink for a quick visit but was so nice out we headed out To the canadien border just for the hell of it. We took back roads and was a nice ride into some desolate areas. I set my GPS to "montreal". Something in french came up and off we went. Well, we ended up at some remote board crossing that was closed, not that we planned crossing as we didnt bring our passports. However, a border patrol guard(women) came out as we were turning the spyder around. This was one RUDE *****. I guess having to get off her ass pissed her off and she couldnt grab the concept that we were just riding and that was it. After watching her roll her eyes, I gave her my opinion of her attitude and said have a great day. :yikes:

We made it back to the rink to say some goodbyes later in the afternoon. Most had already left. We walked the town saturday night, dinner etc...weather was GREAT and we went on a short ride around lake placid. Great fun and great weather.

Sunday it was time to leave. did the breakfast thing, met a few more spyder lovers in the parking lot and headed down 73. What a beautiful ride it was, since we missed it coming up in the rain. In fact, it was so beautiful, we did it twice as the wife thought she forgot something at the hotel. lol Searched the luggage, and she could not find it. Back to the hotel only to find it wasn't in the room either. I went back through the luggage, and there it was. Somehow, it was my fault:dontknow:, but to ride Rt 73 again it wasn't to upsetting:roflblack:.

Our second leave time was 11:15 AM, and we got home at 7:15pm. Weather was fantastic the entire ride. The spyder ran great the entire trip and we were very comfortable although a bit sore in diferent places. :roflblack:, mostly upper body.

We kind of did our own thing, so i can't really comment on the event itself, but it was great meeting some really nice people and seeing alot of spyders all over.

Thanks to all we met!!

What'd you think of those ski jumps when you popped around that corner and there they were??

My ex & I went to the top of the big one and while we were standing there admiring the view I remarked "I wonder, if this thing fell over sideways....do you think the top would crash in the highway?" :dontknow:

She got all freaked out, wanted the people to take her back down on the elevator, kinda put a damper on the whole day......go figure????

:lecturef_smilie: You have to go straight to your bedroom; young man!
There are always consequnces when you scare them like that...

We had SO much fun on Friday night. The stories were hilarious! The walk up the hill (mountain!) was pretty rough on a fat guy with a bum leg, but the time we spent with you and Fanny were definitely the best evening we had at the event.

Great to meet you and THANKS for everything!!

Hope to return the hospitality at SpyderFest 2013!

I'm not sure how you guys even put in a full day on Saturday.... and with a smile..

Did "shirley" make it home ok?:roflblack:

Canada Crossing

ok, here is the sign we encountered approx 300ft before the actual crossing. There wasnt a lot of road to even turn around, so we kept going before getting in trouble from the border patrol witch.

Now i guess there could be many of these, along the border, so lets see what canadiens or new yawkers know where this one is.

Yep. Everyone made it home safe and sound. We avoided the "fairy" ride and just drive around Lake Champlain. :roflblack:

It was a fun filled night. We closed down the hotel lounge and they were flicking the lights off and on. Really subtle!

At least I did get some adult beverages!
Looking forward to next time!

I'd say that crossing would be between the Champlain and Rouses Point crossings....probly closer to Champlain.

Want to see a little action just go to one of those unmaned crossings and do some donuts in the road....you'll activate a few of the buried sensors and all hell will break loose very shortly!! :yikes:

Further west. I do mean remote!:roflblack:

:roflblack: It's ALL pretty remote up along there! :roflblack:

I picked closer to the lake cause the corn looks pretty healthy, but it could be almost any one of those little crossings....:dontknow:

Gotta take one more stab at it.....north of Mooers? Lots of farms around there that span the border too.

North Burke. CR-29 off of 11 And yes, after looking at the map I wonder how we even got there.:roflblack:

Somehow I missed this post, was looking for it too. :dontknow:

I wondered about that very crossing....think it's called the 'Jameson Line' crossing. Been several instances where illegals (guess 'undocumenteds' is the politically correct term now) were found wandering around up there after the 'snakeheads' dropped them off and ran back across the border. What a start to a 'great new life'!

Man, that's a long ways from NJ!! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

CR-29

Oh yeah....lots of nice twisties on CR-29 ey?

Pretty sure you could throw a bowling ball from Rt-11 all the way to the border without it ever leaving the blacktop!! And that's about what.....5 miles? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

:roflblack: Was still a nice ride up, anywhere different is usually interesting for us.
