• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Limited Spyder

I was looking on E-Bay today, and saw a listing for a 2008 Limited Edition Spyder. I have not heard of a limited edition, but I have heard of the PE (Premier Edition). This even had a chrome trim that said limited on it. Is this true, or someone that placed an after-market piece of trim on his Spyder and calling it limited for his sale? :dontknow:

I can't recall anything about a limited edition 2008 Spyder from BRP. :dontknow:

Most auto parts store's sell Chrome stick on trim, probably that's what you see. :dontknow:
I was thinking of adding a chrome 4+4 on my Spyder ,but some ? people might notice the Spyder has 3 wheels.:roflblack:

I'm thinking that it was an after market trim also, but just checking with the experts just in case. I did not notice anything different other than some mods that anyone could do.

Can't link to the photo but here is the auction link. It's the 6th pic down and it's definitely a added sticker. But heck it is a way to draw attention to a crowded field. Stickers do come off.

All I can say is that when someone advertises a vehicle as a "Limited Edition" and it is merely a modified stock vehicle...let the buyer beware! What other lies or half truths are involved? Could be legit, but when it smells like an outhouse, it usually isn't a rose.

That definitely isn't a BRP factory package. Like Scotty says, someone put some mods on a stock Spyder and put on the Limited Edition badging.

I agree with Scotty, even though he is a very annoyng thing! :roflblack:

But seriously, it could just be a simple "fudge" and there could be big trouble under those phony skins! I would be leary...

They are trying to make a 2008 sound better than it is. Nice bike though and probably be a great deal for someone.

Yeah, I like the exhaust pipes on it. I won't buy it, as the rate my SSA has enough money in it I will be able to buy a 2012 used. :gaah:

It's an o8 and if you look at the vin number it ends in 1818 so it is a Premier Edition. He is just calling it a limited edition. I guess he thinks it sounds better, or he forgot what his spyder is????????

Lots of VIN#s end in 1818. Every model can repeat the numerical sequence. It has to be the correct model to be a PE, and the handlebar inserts are not there. They can be removed, but there are no mods to indicate a reason for that. My opinion...definitely not a PE.

This was from BRP when the Spyder first came out.

"Acknowledgement that, due to the limited number of units produced, it is not possible for your dealer to guarantee a delivery date earlier than March 2008. Only 600 Limited Edition Spyder roadsters will be delivered in North America in the fall of 2007; plus an additional 1,500 Limited Edition Spyder roadsters will be delivered between January and March 2008. Each authorized Spyder dealer will receive a limited quantity of roadsters, and will be taking deposits on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Each dealer will also manage the allocation of their units to their consumers having submitted a deposit. BRP is not liable for any delay in delivery or for the allocaiton of the roadsters."
