Limp Mode

Has anybody run into this problem? I have had my headlight relay go out on me now 3 separate times which causes the check engine warning to show up on my dash along with this, the bike has now gone intro limp mode, I was on a trip to yellowstone nat. park I figure that this has to be an electrical problem for this to have happened on three occasions any help would be helpful my Spyder is a 2011 RTS SE5 I now have just over 6,000 miles on the clock

Still a happy Spyder lover if I can get this problem solved

I don't recall anyone having any bad relays on a RT. Did the dealer replace them and if so did they have any ideas?

If the relay has failed three times, I would doubt it is a problem with the relays. It is more likely an overloaded circuit. Relays running right at or slightly above their rated amperage can fail rather quickly, yet keep from blowing a fuse. If you do not have any extra electrical accessories on the circuit, have the dealer check the amp draw while in use with a clamp ammeter. Something is likely causing this issue, but tracking it down will be difficult. I'd probably look at the low-beam shutter mechanism coils first. If you have extra or modified items on the circuit, disconnect them and see what happens. Things like a bad HID ballast can cause such issues.

Lamonster the best the dealer can do so far is just keep replacing the head light relay this of course is not correcting the problem or the underlying cause

An update from my service dept. they told me that they found an extra wire in head light relay panel that doesn't show up on electrical chart and that BRP wasn't aware of. Also wire had scuff marks on insulation that may have been causing the short and causing relays to fail, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this was the problem.
