• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lo/High Beam bulb

Is it normal that when a headlight bulb goes out that both High and Low both go out? Noticed that on the '14 RT. Hope it is not an electrical problem. Also, I see that they are a 9005 series. Isn't that a standard cage bulb? If so, I'll get a set of Silver Stars from Zone.... much cheaper.

I believe that with the shutter system used that the high beams are on all the time but the shutter provides a low beam until raised out of the way. So if the bulb burns out you lose both hi and low at the same time. Others more knowledgeable will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong:yes::clap:

I also believe it is a single bulb set up, with the shutter position determining whether you're running high beam or low beam, but I could be wrong.

NOPE

H4 Halogen bulb 60 watt. Believe they are 55L /60 H beam

My 2014 RT had either of these would work # 9005 and / or HB-3.......The HB-3 for some reason is more expensive.......Mine are now 100 Watt and I know about all the issues etc..... 750 + hrs and still OK..........Mike ................................................................... I'm 99 % sure both of these bulbs ( they are halogen ) are single filament and the BRP set-up ..the shutter just covers the top of the beam......( sort of what they were doing with headlight half-covers in the 40's and 50's Hot-Rods ).

RT headlight bulbs are single filament halogen. There is no high beam filament. Thus the use of shutters.

It was only the left bulb so since it is single filament, would make sense with the hood setup. Think I will try the 9005 Silver Star's ($60.00 / pair) unless someone has had bad luck with them. I am also seeing this is a detailed teardown to get to them, so I will replace both.

Here's the thing..!!

Some models use the H4 (dual filament) others use the H7 (single filament). If the H7 burns out you loose hi and low if the H4 burns out you loose one, either hi or low. If you remove the bulb it is clearly visable or check your manual, its all in there...

:gaah: Why are so many people here suggesting bulbs that don't fit the 2014 RT ?????????.........It's either a #9005 or HB-3 ......Mike
