• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yesterday our home town had its centennial so alot of out of town people around for the festivities. I pulled into town and just had gotten of my spyder when two elderly ladies walked up and asked if it was ok if they looked at the bike.I said sure and asked if they would like a ride? The one ladies eyes lit up and said I would love too. So she hopped on and we went for a couple block slow ride. It was great she talked the entire ride and all the usual questions we get(cost, saftey,do you like it) She then told me that her husband had passed away 1 year ago from a accident and how thankfull she was for the ride and that she had seen alot of spyders around but never thought she would ever get to ride on one and she could now cross one more thing off her bucket list.We were now back to her freind and after a couple pics of her on the bike and alot of thank yous away they went with her smiling ear to ear. I dont know who enjoed it more her or me. It was so nice to be able to make her day and and meet her all because of the spyder. It is true you meet the nicest people when you ride a spyder.

Very nice..!!

that was for both of you. I'm sure she will have tales to tell from now on and with that characteristic spyder smile...!! :2thumbs::yes::yes:

What we get makes a living, What we give makes a life...

You're a good man littledeer! I think I know what you felt! I had a similar experience this weekend as well! A friends family came to visit, including his mother. She's recently had a stroke, but has been on the mend. As they were leaving she commented how beautiful our Spyder was and that she hadn't been on a motorcycle since she was a teenager. I asked if she' like a ride and her face just lit up and she said "Hell Yah"! She couldn't climb on the trike fast enough...We took a few laps around the block and my friends whole family were grinning from ear-to-ear each time we passed. She was laughing and woo-hooing the entire time! My friend says she just can't stop talking about how great a time it was.
If it wasn't for that Spyder....

Doesn't take much to make someone's day a little happier. God for you for giving someone a smile!:clap::clap::clap::clap:

the misses and i had a similar event this past weekend. we had just pulled into the hinkley reservoir parking lot in upstate ny and a little 2 year old came running out of nowhere over to the spyder. (luckily there were no cars moving near him) his dad came over and read him the riot act which brought tears to the little guys eyes. i looked at the father and said, "how about letting him sit on the spyder?" and the father said," i don't reward stupidity usually, but he'll probably never get another chance, so hell, why not." well, that was the wrong answer cause after five minutes of trying to get him off of it, the smile went right back to the tears we had washed away!! :roflblack::roflblack:

Similar experience

I've only had my 2013 RTS a week so when we had a party/get together this weekend for my MIL 85th birthday I had to take the bike to show it off. I told my BIL that his mom said she would go for a ride with me in a few days since she just had her hair done. He disappears and a moment later the entire family (grown kids, grand kids, friends of family) is marching out with the lady of honor. He said "No way am I going to miss my mom on the Spyder." My MIL is all of 4' 11" and 85 lbs and I was worried the helmet would be too heavy for her to hold up. We'll, we got her up on back and I took her several blocks around the neighborhood at one stretch getting up to 30 MPH! The phones were busy taking pictures and video as we pulled back in the driveway. A memorable 85th birthday for my MIL and the entire family.

Way to go!

It is such a great feeling to be able to do something like this and I appreciate you sharing it with us! :D:D:D:D:D:D

We were in your area this past Sunday. We rode to the Munsinger and Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud with some friends. Beautiful place. We're only about 1 1/2 hours from you.....We need to get together to ride sometime!

Several years ago when I still had my 2 seat "Ultralight" trainer I would go to fly-in's and always spent a lot of time giving rides.
Kids, Moms, Dads, all got a kick out of it. If the person was the least bit inclined, I'd have them take the control and show them the basics of flying. One time there was a family of Amish there with several teen age girls and one boy. They sort of skirted around looking at the plane, reluctant to get too close, but I kept urging the one girl that seemed most bashful to come take a ride. The others jumped on the wagon and coaxed her into it. So in she comes, long skirt and all, and after we got up I asked her to take the stick and showed her the fundamentals. She took to it like a duck to water. Then when it came time for her brother to fly, he remarked, after really getting the hang of it, that it "was pretty much like driving his Bobcat".

Almost all kids would reply positively, when asked if they liked the roller coaster and at that point I would go into a shallow dive, pull up almost to a stall, and quickly push the nose over. That would usually raise us out of seats slightly, although we were well strapped in! Always good for some screams and big grins. :D
