• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Muffler is peeling

While I was washing my Spyder today, I notice that the muffler is missing some of the black paint. Has any one else had this problem on they 2010 RTS SM5?

It's quite common on Spyders, Depending on how much paint is flaking off, Some have been replaced under warranty.

My muffler had the same paint flaking symptoms that you described. First a few flakes of paint and gradually a change in the sound of the muffler. It appears that there may have been a crack in the internal chamber causing the paint to flake because of excessive heat. At first I thought it was just a cosmetic anomaly, but when the muffler sound began to degrade both myself and the service manager agreed that it was bit more serious. This of course is just speculation on our part, but there did not appear to be push back from BRP when my dealer requested a new muffler on my behalf.

Worth a talk with your service manager to see what can be done.

Muffler Paint & Sound

Many of my Spyder Lovers friends and acquaintences know that we have two 2010 RT's.. His & Hers. Both our RT mufflers, around 14K miles, developed paint peeling and internal rattling after becoming hot. I brought it to the attention of my dealer. The rattling was caused by internal baffles breaking loose from the spot welds and their opinion was that it may have also caused the paint to peel. Our dealer replaced both our mufflers under warranty. Evidently this isn't an isolated problem.... BRP is aware of this problem, and will replace the muffler under warranty... Len

Wasn't sure, when you said you had just washed it. With no pressure washer involved you should have no problem at your dealer...at least that's my wish.
