The strut is located on the left (as you sit on the bike) seat support. It's located behind the pivot point and pulls down on the seat support, thereby raising the seat. The strut goes down into the bike and is completely hidden until the rear passenger seat is removed and you can peer down along the seat support behind the hinge point.
