• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first really, really close call on the Spyder

Vehicles turning in front of motorcycles seems to be, by far, the major cause of collisions... Generally, the cager driver's brain didn't register properly - cycle with headlight on, not speeding... So assume they are about to turn in front of you. Aux lights &/or flashing headlights help.

Yes, We bikers need to be very very careful about ryding anymore. I have seen what I would call 'problems areas'
while driving my truck. Today's driver is
so Not paying much attention to anything.
The Mighty Cell Phone is a real problem while we Ryde or Drive.
Some people don't even know what is going on while they are on the Road.
Then there are the 'DUI' and road rage
type of person.

Anyhow enjoy your Spyder Ryde Times.

When I was still on two wheels I pulled up to a long line stopped at a light. Something told me to leave extra space between me and the car in front so I did. No sooner was I stopped than I heard a screech of tires hehind me. Not even looking around I used the extra space to dive for the shoulder. A car slid past me and hit the car in front of me. I was glad to not be there.

This last Saturday in NC, the weather was great for riding. I had to go by the Costco in Greensboro for gas before heading out. The Costco in Greensboro is on West Wendover in a shopping center to the right of it. The main entrance has a signal, since Wendover is a verrry busy road. There is another entrance past that which makes it easier to get in just for gas. In NC, unless marked not to, it is allowed to turn right on red after stopping, like at a stop sign. As I was approaching the intersection with me having the green light, one person pulled out in front of me closer than I care for (speed limit is 45mph). A car right behind that one started rolling out without stopping or looking my way. I slammed on the brakes and horn (I have an air horn due to idiots like this one). That is when he looked my way. He stopped 1/4 to 1/3 of the way out in my lane and I was able to not over steer and crash. My right front wheel missed his front bumper by maybe a foot. I stopped in the right turn lane to enter to get gas and as the idiot passed me, I gave him more horn and he started looking around like he thought I was going to chase him down. I just went ahead and got gas and was glad I was not in an accident.
