• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm currently at the dealership. I am having the 2011 towing harness that came with the hitch installed. My trailer has a round 6 pin plug on it. It has yellow led turn lights as well as red running and brake lights. The trailer has electric brakes but I'm not going to use them. I have found the brp pole harness but have found two different ones - 2010 & 2011. They are 710002442 & 710002029. Before I order, can you tell me for sure which I should order? Time is of the essence!
thanks much

what kind of trailer do you have?
I have the aspen sentry and picked up the tongue harness 029 to make mine work
i picked up a 6 pin module to hook up to the trailer from the bike
black to ground
brown to running lights
yellow and red to turn signal brakes left and right as needed

I also found the best way to deal with the hanky trailer lights is to just unscrew the plastic lenses and change out the amber for red and vise versa.

Re trailer

The trailer is the Aspen Sentry trailer with the upgraded led lighting (separated red and yellow led lights)
Thanks

Re trailer

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and ordered the 2010 5 wire 29 harness and will cross my fingers!

You cannot wire a 5-wire trailer to the latest BRP Spyder trailer modules. They only have 4-wire output. You can go ahead and wire in the 5-wire trailer harness, but the brake lighting will not work and should not be connected. The amber turn signals will also light as brake lights. I feel this is confusing, although legal in most states. Simplest solution is to buy red replacement lenses from Trailmaster to replace the ambers. You could also disconnect the brake light wires from oth taillights, and move the wires there from the turn signals, or cut the wire off one brake light and run a new wire forward from one side, using those instead of the turn signal wires. Sorry, but it is what it is. I had to modify my Aspen Sentry when I got the new Spyder, too.

Re trailer

I just left the dealership and they looked up this info and printed it up.
The difference between the trailer light modules is that the MY10 module will use separate bulbs for flashers. This means the MY11 module will use the brake lights as flashers. This means the MY11 trailer light assembly no longer has the flasher bulbs.

In addition, the trailer light harness was simplified th a 4 wire harness.
Two additional terminals were incorporated into the 2011 module to allow a 2010 trailer to work on a 2011 trailer light module.

They understood this means that if the 2010 trailer (5 wire) would work plugged into the 2011 module. They also said that any 5 wire trailer could be wired using the 2010 pole harness and the 2011 module! I just seem to get more confused all the time and have already ordered the 2010 pole harness. ARGH!!!

Very confusing is right.
I have a Kwik Kamp with five pin wireing and will need to figure out how to wire it to my 2012 Spyder.
mtbear.

There is a slight error here. The 2010 RT-622 and its trailer harness are actually 6-wire, with separate brake light wires. That is what allows it to work on the early module, and vice-versa. The best way to address all this is by hooking up your trailer harness, testing it, and selecting the wires that give the appropriate function. This should be the running, right turn/brake, left turn/brake, and ground wires. The original brake light wires should not be functional...at least they have not been for others. If they are functional, select either one to wire to your brake lights. Be aware, however, that you will also have the ambers light upon braking if you make no modifications to a 5-wire trailer.

The spyder with the cocoon is on each side panel just below the passengers butt
