• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Key Holder

OK so the holder is only a piece of Duct tape, The idea here is that if you need to hide a unchipped key, here is a suggestion.

this is what you see when you open the small glovebox on my Spyder, do you see the key??? No you don't because it is hidden in plain sight.

now if you look under the lid, you will see that the key is taped to the under part of the glovebox lid, but you have to get down and look up to see it and most thieves are not that smart.

Just another suggestion for a place to store a spare key.

 I did almost the exact same thing to mine!

Only I save the foam out of my 2010 glovebox, and it went in under that.

Joe, the bottom of the glove box (the foam insert) lifts right out! Most people have no idea it does!

I cut a slight indent into the bottom of the foam insert and put the key in there.

Nice idea with the duct tape but check out what I am saying :)

Oh wait! Bob you saying the 2014/15 does not come with the foam insert?
I guess without all that heat they got rid of that too?

But what if?

What are you going to do if you turn the front wheels and lock the handlebar and then lose your key? That also locks your glove box, where the spare key is hidden! :banghead:

I have my non-chip key velcroed to the inside end of a mirror. Those can always be taken off.

I never lock the handlebars. Seems redundant to me.

Unchipped key?

Would you define the Unchipped key terminology? Don't we need a key with the chip in it to operate your SpYder?

:agree: Why lock the bars? :dontknow:
Even with them unlocked... without the key; they'd need to pop the switch, to get power to unlock the parking brake...

...If they even knew of it's existence!

And how far are they gonna push the thing? :D

An unchipped key is used only to unlock the Spyder compartments. I give my wife an unchipped key so she can get in the compartments and the trailer for two reasons, 1- Cost (about $3.00), 2- i can make as many as i want (chipped keys are expensive and you can only program up to four). So by putting a chipped key in a locked area, i or my wife or anyone else i designate can use the unchipped key to retrieve it if necessary. Note: my chipped key is also hidden in the locked area so just having access to the compartment does not mean you will find the chipped key.

The cooler conditions DO make it a bit unnecessary.
But I saved mine, because I've got my garage door opener mounted into it!
I just cut a properly sized and shaped hole, and it works perfectly! :D

Joe, just a heads up. I did the same with my 2010 RT and if that is duct tape you are using, it will get kinda sticky after awhile from the sun heat. Great idea though.
