I needed to get away from this stupid computer for a while:banghead: but the weather wasn't looking that great.:sour: I checked the radar and there was a few spots of rain but I figure what the heck, I need to ride.:doorag:
Told my wife I'll be back and headed to the top of the Smokies. I went down 349 to 321 and followed it all the way into Gatlinburg. When I got to Gatlinburg the place was packed. I figured it wouldn't be bad with the cold and wet weather but it was just like any other day.:sour: Traffic was stop and go he whole way. The fun thing was looking at all the folks flipping out over the Spyder. I bet there were at least 20 pictures taken while I was stuck in traffic.
Got through town and headed up the 441 to the TN/NC border. There's a nice little Park at the top of the hill. About half way there it started getting pretty wet. Soon after the temps dropped and I noticed there was still snow on the side of the roads. I thought I would tuff it out and change gloves when I got to the top. I didn't make it all the way and decided to change gloves and turn around. My hands were as if I held them in a cooler full of ice water. I thought they would never get warm again.
From there I headed back but instead of going back through Gatlinburg I made a left and went through Pigion Forge. There was suppose to be a Rod Run there but I guess my dates were off.
pps: I headed back on the highway and never did get warm for about a hour after I got home.
The good news is I did get a chance to try out my new rear tire in the rain and wet roads. I have a pretty good idea how much throttle I can give before my stock tire starts to spin on wet roads. Today I never did get it to cut loose. I would say this is a much better rain tire than the two stock rears I went through. I haven't been in real heavy rain yet but so far I'm lovin it. :doorag:
