• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi, everyone

I'm right now at the circus circus in las vegas My first time in Vegas i have to leave my spyder alone at home. (Montreal, quebec) but my question is how everybody rode in motorcycle during the day here. The sun is crazy. i see people on harley with leather jacket, jeans and fullface helmet everyday the temperature is over 100f. I question if my spyder would keep running even in the death valley i'm suppose to go to death valley sunday if i can rent a car. It's the hotter place registered on earth

Alright guys.

I don't know if people who want to buy spyder rt a/c think they got air conditionner on the bike lol here it's a must lol

Just my opinion, the Spyder can handle it just fine....... if you can

In our 2 years, 2 RT-S's and now over 50,000 miles of Spyder Ryding, its true that the Spyder does seem to like the cooler climates better, but we've not had any heat related issues with the Spyders Operation itself. Can't say the same for myself, but the Spyder seems to be able to handle just about any climate. We've gone from Florida in the blistering heat of summer back in 2010 without issue and for me personally, the Spyder is my (Teddy's really) only mode of transportation, year round and it handles it all pretty dang well, In my experience.

Baker Air Wings does make air diverters that many here on SL have added and most seem to be very pleased with their ability to adjust their AC to their liking:thumbup:

There are mesh jackets that provide shade from the sun and also allow good ventilation and along with the evaporative cooling vests that are available, I'm sure even a 'Northerner' like you can find something that works for you, eh>>>????:roflblack:

As a Vegas native, I'll say the Spyder handles the heat just fine, though it does lose some mpg when it hits hard. The trick is handling the heat as a rider. Me? I just wear a thin, long sleeve t shirt to keep the sun off my skin, some jeans to keep the sun and bike heat off my legs, and my helmet when going around town. Any extended trips I use a cool vest under my shirt, and use a water bottle in my cup holder to wet down my shirt to keep me cool.

I've been to Vegas many, many times. On several occasions I contemplated renting a motorcycle. The heat has always been so intense I chickened out.
Death Valley is a huge contrast, with the below sea level parts & also the high altitude viewing areas. It has always been hot, no matter what altitude, though I have only been there in the summer.
Twice this summer I have been very uncomfortable on my Spyder in the Montreal area when it was over 90°F & humid so can only imagine what it is like at +100°F (it is a dry heat:D:D:D)

By all means get a cool vest, sleeves, doo rag. Soak these suckers down and you will have air conditioning till the next gas stop. If you are in Vegas they should be available at the Bass Pro shop south of town. Maybe Justin knows of other places. And don't you dare leave town without carrying drinking water!

Hasn't been a dry heat lately with all the afternoon showers we get this time of year.

As for don't leave town without water... I'd like to make this correction. Don't leave your building/home/hotel/whatever without water. Doesn't matter if you are leaving town or not.

This one is directed at Arr:

Is anyone renting Spyders there yet? We might make a Dec/Jan trip to the area and would like to take a Spyder on a sightseeing adventure.

Not to my knowledge. Someone in CA will deliver some to you, but there is a minimal rental time and substantial delivery charge.

Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino has a partner company located in their building that rents Spyders. They are about three hours from Las Vegas, or 45 minutes from Ontario Airport. Do not know the details of what the cost/requirements are. There is also a site sponsor that rents Spyders out of Arizona.

I have checked with the site sponsor. Not willing to pay extra to have Spyder delivered and picked up from 150 miles away. It sounds like I will be forced to rent the usual Caddy while I am down there, that will be about the cost of the Spyder rental anyway.

Thank you for the information though. I appreciate the help.
