I rode my V-Star to work today, which was it's first trip out of the garage since I bought the Spyder, and to be honest.... I can't wait to get home so I can put it back in the garage. Unfortunately it's not the only bike being neglected, my HD has only made it around the block since Dec. 31st.

This thing should have come with a waring lable.

I agree. I have a ST1100 in the garage and it does not get out much in over a year. It is going up for sale.

They put a warning on kids Tynoel (I think), that is unsafe to let them operate heavy machines after use. This is much serious.

:agree: Same story here. I never expected my two bikes would ever be collecting dust, but they are. It's good to know I'm not the only one
going thru this. Spyders are a bit like Hds in one respect - "if I have to explain it........."

Last year I had 7 bikes in total.

I don't think I put a total of 1000 miles conbined on the the other 6 last season, and that was with only my SM5 in the stable at my house. :shocked:

Now that I have 8 and one of them is the RT I'm not even sure how much time the SM5 will get this season. :dontknow:

Two years ago, I rode my BMW about twelve times farther than the amount I stole Nancy's Spyder. I rode the various vintage bikes about the twice the mileage of the Spyder. Last year, due to our illnesses, I rode the Spyder about four times as much as either BMW, and I did not ride the other vintage bikes at all. We only did about a tenth of our typical mileage, though. So far this year, The Spyders and my 2000 BMW are about even. If I hadn't had problems with the RTS, that might be different. I try not to play favorites, though, one of them might get mad and try to get even.

one time i was coming out of a store and there were usual number of people looking at my spyders but i heard one of them asking why would someone ride something like this? and his female friend replied "someone who wants to ride but don't know how to ride motorcycle". i didn't say anything but i was thinking, only if you knew how intoxicating the RYDE is.
i come from crotch rocket side of motorcycle but i have so much more fun on spyder.:2thumbs:

I don't put the miles on like a lot of you do. The miles I do put on are for the most part all Spyder. Last year I put about 4000 miles on the Spyder and about 500 on the Sportster. So far this year I have put zero miles on the Sportster.

Bad riding year ,last year only put on about 12,000 miles. If all goes well this year hope to get about 20,000 miles on the :spyder2:.

My Suzuki M109R has been sitting in the garage for about a year... And I love that bike. Just can't bring myself to ride it when the Spyder is right there.

has been neglected this past year. And to think I had just installed the complete Traxxion suspension on it last spring. But I'll tell you this... when I get all these spring "honey do's" completed all these machines are going to go riding. /Ken

I used to be a crotch rocket pilot before multiple knee surgeries, and have heard the same comments. If they ever took one for a test ryde it would be a different story.

And that's when you ask them when they rode last. Especially after the weather we've had here in the Panhandle of TX. The last week has been 25 - 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph at times.

The only other vehicle that I have that is addictive to me, like the Spyder, is my new 1200 SkiDoo TNT. Thats just a blast! But thats for winter fun. The Spyder gets more use and miles for sure. Living up here in the north country, it's nice to have motor toys for all seasons.

Read on another forum that HD was offering free maint for 5 years or 5000 miles which ever comes first don't know if it is true or not, however another commented HD had done a study and found out the mileage for their riders was 800 miles per year.

So, at that rate the cost of the free maintenance to them should be extremely low versus the number of bikes sold. Of course I am sure there are plenty of exceptions to the 800 miles a year group. Still, I wracked up over 8,000 miles in 6 months so they are not really giving anything away there.
