• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger Seat Switch

Does anyone know if the fault on the passenger seat switch affects the stability system? I called BRP and they said to call the dealer. Told them the dealer did not know; which is why I called them. Was told the dealer should call the technical folks at BRP as we are not allowed.

I don't think so. My understanding is that the passenger seat switch only affects braking.

I've had my switch modded to stay depressed all the time for a while now. It seems to brake flatter....

What do you mean by "flatter?" I depressed mine too, and it seems to have reduced the nanny a bit...but what do you mean?

When that switch is depressed; the bike dials in more rear braking. That'll help keep the rear of the bike down during a stop...

Really! Good to know. I did mine because my wife is so small that sometimes she would move around a little and the switch would disconnect, then she would move again and it would connect again. This on/off cause a mode. The only way to clear it was to turn off the Spyder then restart it. VERY annoying. It took me about a month to identify the cause of the mode. So, I permanently depressed the switch.

Seat switch

I think you guys are shooting from the hip. Our RTL when Anne plops her blue jeans on the seat the air compressor activates and pumps up the air shock.

The VSS works off of sensors that are sensing angles of the front suspension as the forces exerted by making your turn are computed by the computer modules.

thts my skinny and I'm sticking with:sour:

I don't think the seat switch has anything to do with the VSS and I don't have the auto air ride so I don't know about the switch doing anything with that either.

On my 2011 RS-S SE5, it change shifting, and all of VSS functions. When I ride one up. It shifts faster and at higher rpms, also going into a turn faster it will slow you down faster. If you want to go faster get a BajaRon anti-sway bar. That's IMHO.

:agree: :congrats:.....On my 2014 RT I started it up without that switch connected..............the VSS light came on..............after I connected the switch VSS light went OFF .........you are probably right NJD they have nothing to do with each other :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:......Mikeguyver

Because the braking system is affected by the operation of the switch; it would light up the VSS, if it's disconnected...
...due to it's absence. ;)

Wow.... nothing better to do MacGruber?

Yes, because the VSS system uses the ABS for stability control. If there is a fault in the ABS system, such as unplugging the seat sensor, then the VSS will also throw a fault.
However, just because the VSS uses the ABS system doesn't mean the pillion switch has any change in the VSS programing when activated.

How do you depress the switch? The code "seat switch defective" comes on everytime my bike gets hot after a while on the road. Annoying as hell.:doorag:

It's held to the bottom of the seat with 2 t30 torx bolts. Remove the sensor. I used some 3/4" dense seat foam that I cut into a circle and put in the hole. Put the switch back in. The thickness of the foam presses the switch.

I guess you could also wrap the switch up with some electrical tape or duck tape it up MacGruber style too....

Did it occur to you that your seat switch might just be, "defective"? :dontknow:
Rather than "McGruber" it up;you might want to let somebody check it out for you first...
