• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Poor metal for shift lever

Have a 2011 rt se5 cheap soft metal on lever soft metal against hard metal this is number 2 lever this year the spline seem to wear out on the lever thinking about spot weld shifter on any suggestions

I don't recommend welding it. It will render the engine unable to be dismantled.....in other words junk if it needs an overhaul. You are the only one that has reported wearing out multiples. Others have had them loosen or come off, but they were able to be tightened in most cases. I'd sure suggest frequent checks of the bolt tightness, a check of the shaft spline condition and fit, and possible modification of the lever. Typically a wider slot is cut so the lever pinches tighter. I don't know if that is possible on the Spyder, though.

Not likely..!!

if item 46 is the shift lever he is talking about he would be hollering a lot louder..!! :roflblack:

Agree you can cut or file the gap to get a better pinch with the bolt. They most likely failed because they got loose....:dontknow:

You think maybe? He'd need to remove the case cover and the valve body to replace part #46. I would not be a happy camper either! :yikes:

You guys are not reading it right. It is #46 and it is on the outside and it has been a problem child for many. nojoke

Now that it has been established that it does exist. There have been lots of posts that the lever has come loose and falls off. It has become a routine for me at every oil change to check if the lever has come loose and is able to slide on the shaft. I did find that it came loose on my 09 GS once and tightening the pinch bolt fixed the problem permanently. As long as the lever is kept tight I see no reason for the lever not to last the life of the Spyder. IMO.
