There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Purge valve cause of hot restart and cutting out?

We've experienced issues with our 2011 RT cutting out at stop lights and having a hard time restarting after a short rest period (i.e. stopping for food). In all the research I did here it sounded to me like the throttle body issue that many have described/identified. We took it into the dealer for the now 3rd time for this issue and he came back and said its a faulty purge valve. We are not experiencing any of the symptoms others have described with the purge valve (gas smell, back fire).

Could the purge valve be causing our hot restart issues and making the RT quit when sitting at stop lights?

Thanks

hi Viiiball, I have a 2011 rt limited and it did the exact same thing your is doing on the way down to the owners event. Took it to the tecks from BRP and the replaced the purge valve and did 2 updates(not sure which ones). The bike needed an oil change the next morning took it to FunCenter in Durango and the tech comes back and says that I have a broken spark plug wire. They installed new plug wire and to tell you the truth this bike has never ran better. They said that some techs will pull on the wire not the boot and this will cause them to break. Have your dealer check the wires. Let us know what happens.

It could...as could bad plugs wires, a bad coil, bad throttle body, or a dozen other things. Not sure why the dealer seems to be grasping at straws, but you are just going to have to struggle through it with them or find another dealer. Many techs have difficulty with problems like these that are not readily diagnosed by computer. BRP's dealer tech support can help if they are contacted by the technician.

Doug... I sent you a PM.

Update

The scoot was completed last week and we picked it up on Saturday. So far so good. Seems to be running much better with the replaced purge valve. Wife was out riding yesterday when it was hot so that was a good test. No hesitation and no cutting off. Also no hot restart issues. The only thing we've noticed is there is a definite smell of fuel when you park the bike. She will ride it another week or so to see if this dissipates. If no we will mention it to our service tech.

Odor, fumes and varying amounts of fuel droppings after 6 months and 8,000 miles. I'been through the whole routene at least twice and finally did the canisterectomy after 2.5 months of no results. It was awful yesterday, after a week or two of being pretty good in the high 90s. One of the HOGs noticed the HUGE wet spot by the back wheel, where the vent line now lets all the "stuff" excape (the original RT vent is right in front of the catalic converter and very near the exhaust, also wrapped as much exhaust as possible and put insulating stuff on most of the gas tank). I should have taken yet anothe pic, but I'm kinda tired of taking pics of fuel spots on driveways, garage floors and even the dealers mx area. I don't fill all the way, try not to run low, but that does happen. Yesterday's huge "fuel spot" came after refueling 3.3 gallons in 121 miles and it was only 90 degrees. :banghead:

BTW, the dealer has been very supportive and is as frustrated with it as I am. BRP reps have talked with them and me and keep saying "don't fill it all the way." Thanks for the hint.
