question for a friend

I have a friend that has a 2014 RT basic model. He wants to know how to adjust the shocks so that he doesn't bottom out

The shocks are not adjustable.

Rats. Using hotel computer. he needs to manually check the air pressure in the rear shock. Sounds like it's down. Basic RT doeas not have an air pump. He can check the manual for the proper pressure. Schrader valve is under the seat.

if they are bottoming out due to weight may have to move up to better shocks with adjustments. If within limits may have to check with dealer may need new shocks. If it is because of agressive ryding get some elkas...:thumbup:

Look up threads about rubber wedges in front shocks to firm them up. Easy, cheap, and works.

Front or rear shocks ? Front already talked about. Rear partly. Look at Baker built site here on SpyderLovers, they have a add on unit that is reasonable and works. You push a button to adjust the rear. Mine has been on for almost three years, no problems

:gaah:....After they check the air pressure in the rear shock ( fronts are not adjustable ), if it still bottoms out in a few days , re-check pressure. My bag had a leak and had to be re-placed ( under warranty ) ...........Mikeguyver :thumbup:

It seems that a lot of dealers deliver the base model without putting air in the rear shock. :yikes: Shame on them.

And of course if you install elka s on the front it will raise the bike as much as two inches and provide you with adjustments.. Once I put elka s on my 2012 I never bottomed out again
