Still new to my spyder rs-s, how do i check my oil? And where is it located lol dealership never showed me

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Go back to the dealer, have them show you where it is, how to check it, how often to check it (I have an RT so not familiar with other models), but if it is a 998, it is on the left side of the engine as you are sitting on the Spyder. How to get to it depends on what panel - should be small - to take off. I would ask for the manual too. They do owe it to you.

Did the dealer give you a "once over" on the bike during delivery? Also, if they didn't, you might find that you actually do have a manual ... I believe it lives in the front trunk (frunk) on all models of spyder. Check to see if one is attached with Velcro somewhere in the frunk .... if you have a liner, it would be underneath that.

Download the manual ... put it somewhere you can always find it.
I have the paper copy but you can search it easier if you have an electronic copy. I added it to my onenote account and can access it from my computer, ipad, or smartphone. I'll use the paper copy if I am somewhere with no cell or internet connection.

And don't laugh when you do. IMO damn poor effort on their part in not providing one.
As a thought: Mine came with an original manual. I also bought another one ( ~$8 or so ) to keep in the house with my Spyder files. That makes it much easier when I want to read up on something; just go over to the desk & get it out.
I'm getting lazy as I get old, :yikes:

SOOOOOOOOOOOO Dear Lady I back tracked in your previous posts and discovered you have the above :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.....I had / have an 11 and loved it...... The 998 has a thirst for OIL so check it at least every 500 miles at a MINIMUM....... and give serious consideration to just removing that little plastic GRILL that covers the DIP-STICK so you don't have to re-move the entire PANEL......BECAUSE one day you won't get ALL the fasteners tight and the PANEL will come off -- probably at 100 Km or more :lecturef_smilie:....... There are a few QUIRKS that should be addressed with this engine ....like removing the hose from the AIR BOX on the left rear corner and putting an ordinary car gas filter on it.....But be sure to plug the HOLE on the Air Box...... This will keep excess oil from the Air Box....You also want to do a " cannisterectomy " on the " CHARCOAL " FILTER ( means re-move it from the system )......find the threads /info by doing an advanced search.........Mike :thumbup:

Did you check for the manual. .? it is normally in a pouch velcroed to the inner wall of the frunk. If not there you should have them get you one even if you checl online. The way to do it is release the three clips that hold the left panel on. This will expose the oil tank with the dip stick in it. Start the engine and let it get to operating temp or till the fan kicks on...or just take it for a long ryde. Then while the engine is hot remove the dip stick and clean it off replace screwing it back down remove and check the level. Add if needed to keep it between the add and full marks. Best is just below the full mark...:thumbup:
