Coming from two long-distance bikes that have ~7 gal. tanks and get excellent fuel mileage (easy 250+ mile range), the Ryker’s tank size and range made me a little nervous. Looking for a way to add some supplemental fuel should I need it, I found the Rotopax system that had several container sizes that looked appealing. Unfortunately, my Ryker Sport really had no ideal place to mount one... particularly since the PO had installed an Ultimate Seat on it. It's a nice seat with pillion space and the driver backrest, but I don’t carry a passenger, and the fold-down back rest was beginning to be a PITA getting on and off the machine.
A couple months ago, Slingmods put their Show Chrome Combat seat on sale with free shipping, so I bit the bullet and got one. It looks like a nicely made seat, very easily installed (with magnets, no less), and it fits my posterior perfectly. It also lowers me down to the point that the wind screen actually does some good and gets me out of the wind blast. No complaints what-so-ever. I quickly found out that an added benefit was that it opened up a spot behind the seat (and in front of the tail trunk) to mount one of the Rotopax gas containers. They offered free shipping a couple of weeks ago, so I picked up one of their 2 gal. (Gen 2) versions. After I got done with the steering update thingy, I installed the Rotopax.
My camping gear will sit nicely on top, and it has a large enough capacity to get me out of trouble when I’m out aimlessly wandering around out in the boonies of WV, long trips, or wherever.
