• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear Trunk Interior Light

For those who have added an interior light to the rear cargo area, what lighting product did you install?

Excellent post. I didn't know anyone was doing this, but I too would like to install some kind of light in the rear trunk.

I carry two hand crank flash lights one in the trunk that i squeeze rapidly, it is quite effective in seeing what I need to find in my trunk that i got at Restoration hardware 5 years ago. the other one is smaller about twice the size of my key fob that you wind up and flip the switch when ready to use. I store that in the center console . I figure if i am stuck somewhere at night that this will come in handy.

I bought a 5-LED tap light bar, but have discovered that the way the lid sits, you'll need something with lights that can be adjusted, as affixing the light will put it at an angle either too far forward or too far rearward. The interior surface actually comes to a point at the open position. I guess a wider angle light might work as well, but I'm not looking to attact more bugs than absolutely necessary.

I hope someone else comes up with a good solution; I'm still looking.

Led Swivel Light

I purchased a stick on LED Swivel Light and adhered it to the inside left side of the trunk. It is bright enough to illuminate the rear trunk and because the light swivels you can direct it where you need the light most. To turn it on and off simply tap it.
I had it mounted on the underside of the trunk lid for a trial, but because you need to give my trunk lid a firm rap when closing the shock would very likely dislodge the light after a while.
For under $10.00 it does the job.

I have a LED light on a swivel that is attached to an elastic headband. It could be attached to the trunk lid and then swiveled down to allow you to point it into the trunk when needed. It holds 3 AAA batteries in the base.

If I were to put a couple of clips on each side of the center of the lid that would hold the elastic band tight enough and suspend the light between the clips, it could work well there plus, when needed, it would allow me to remove it and wear it on my head as designed.

Hey, I think I just came up with a good idea! I'll have to remove that inner lid to see if I can drill holes to mount the clips. If I can, off I go to Home Depot to find the right clips...

I did this 6 months ago, just go to walmart most have them in the lighting section, some don't as I have found out. Must be smaller walmarts

Excellent application! Thanks!

Following up, I decided to stay with the bar light idea, and purchased the Sylvania Dot-It Linear Swivel, less than $9.00 at Lowes. I was mostly interested in the broader coverage and ability to direct the beam. It fills the trunk with a bright light. I mounted it in the trunk lid as shown.

I like this, too.

Thanks, all, for your ideas.
