• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing RT Gear Shift Lever...

I was hoping someone could share info on how to remove/replace the gear shift lever on an RT. I am installing a set of Seal Floorboards and need some guidance with this part of the install.
Any picts or video would also be appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike

Here is a picture of the gear shift and linkage removal instructions from my Shop Manual. I was under the impression that the boards normally came with instructions and installation pics?

Maybe someone who has done this install can help you with the installation, or you can also pm John and ask him directly.

Thanks for your help. Actually I need picts of the actual gear shift lever that you use your foot to manually shift on an RT Sm5. The only instructions just tell you to remove gear shift lever and replace with the larger one to accomodate the boards. I have already sent John an email. Unfortunately, most of the board kits that have been sold have been for the SE5 and not the manul shifts.

I do appreciate your help though!!!

The arm sits on a shaft with a bushing. There is a M6 x 25 mm screw through the shifter arm and the shift linkage and there is a M6 locking nut holding everything. I think John's instructions say the screw uses a 10 mm wrench. Install it BEFORE you put on the floorboard. Whole thing should take 10 - 15 min for the shifter and the board. Good Luck!

EDIT: To make shifting easier on my knee and ankle I added a heel shifter from Inspector Gadget (http://www.spyderrt.info/)

i do not have an rt but with my rs all i had to do was un screw the bolt and slide itn off but i did use a small sreew driver in the slot so to releave a little psi on the spline, then just pull it off.your replacement shifter slide on the splines then the bolt gos back on to secure it .now what i had to do was put a adapter on the back of the board to rest my heal on so i could rock my foot to left the shifter.with your foot on the boards you must lift your hole leg up to shift and i got bad knees so rockinr my foot to shift was much easer.look at the picture.if you need moore help call 785 214 5012 hope this helps.
