• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rotopax on Ryker

Figured I would share this as a solution for extra fuel on the Ryker. Didn’t really want to drill through the max mount, so I picked up a linq plate and attached the rotopax mount to that.
Easy to remove when not needed.

Pictures should be attached.

Damn, they are proud of that. $149 for just the plate? I’m obviously in the wrong business.

I ordered one yesterday. With the exchange rate it was $118. Shipping was an additional $30. Can-AM is also offering a mounting plate for 2020 but it will be $200

Yeah, bit pricey but I am happy I got it. Luckily I already had the rotopax from an atv so didn’t have to buy that again.

Just out of curiosity, but what is the point of or the need for carrying extra fuel like that? If you get 200 miles on a tank of gas, don't you need a break off the cycle by then? Or, is there some other reason for carrying extra fuel, other than staying on the road longer?

Other reasons? Yeah - in Canada, Australia, & probably some other Countries I could name, there really ARE places you can go where the fuel supplies &/or stops are further apart than 200 miles!!

OK, good point. Although, I have been to quite a few countries and I have yet to go even 100 miles without seeing a fuel supply. Just saying. On the other hand, I was watching a Youtube "ichy boots(?)" where a girl is driving all over the world on a Royal Enfield (owned one myself ('68 kickstart) and she carries extra fuel with her. I think she has been in just about every country in the world. I think she carries jerry cans on the side of her bike.

For me, it’s extra piece of mind having some back up. Yes some of the places I ride to don’t have gas stations that frequently, the majority of the time I would be closer. The biggest pain has been the last month I encountered 2 gas stations that had no fuel.

I only get about 150 miles per tank on the Rally. At 130 miles I am getting nervous. Crossing West Texas there are many places where fuel is not available without leaving the highway and searching. Furthermore, fueling up is sitting still and it is hot. I really wish I could get 200-225 miles per tank like I did on my BMW GS; my bladder was perfectly matched to that range.

No stations open is a typical thing that happens in the nether regions of the Alaska Highway--in winter. We made our trip from AK to AR in early May. Many gas stations were still closed. The "summer" season starts the end of May.

We drove a Subaru Outback with a gas tank range of 460 miles...so we were okay. If you are planning on driving above the Arctic Circle in AK, in the summer...extra gas is recommended IF you are on a mc with less than a 200 mile range.

I have not encountered the situation in the lower 48 yet.

So back to the Linq Plate. I purchased one and bolted it to the tail trunk I salvaged from the wrecked BMW shown in my avitar. On my Rally with the brushed aluminum trim it looks great and will give me double the carrying capacity than the BRP trunk even before it is expanded; and it is lockable. Besides now my BMW buddies will let me play with them again IMG_1145.jpg
