• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello All.

I'm new to this site as of today and I'm also a new spyder owner. 2012 RT-S Semi auto.

What RPM should it be at idle speed when warmed up?

Does anyone know what the red line would be at?

Thanks

Give it a few mins an u will get the right answer. :congrats:An :welcome:This is a great site!!

1350 to 1450 RPM, Idle. And not adjustable,
The Red line is around 9k, And when you hit it you'll know it.!
And it's not a good idea to hit it too many times.

HMMMM, did you get an Owner's Manual, or are you just not willing to read it. You said you were new, and we were all "new" once, but the Owner's Manual is given to you for a purpose, one of which is to hopefully prevent you from asking such questions because you just don't want to read and find out yourself.

spyderman 998;

Dudley is giving you some really good advice. Don't mistake his tone and stop asking questions. This is the greatest site for all Spyderlovers and you will learn a lot by asking questions and reading posts from others.

Welcome!

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new :spyder:. :agree: with the above answers but here is my $.02............when starting cold revs are about 1500 RPM and then it settles down to 1300 to 1400 RPS after 20-30 secs. I never worried about "red line".....just be sure to not shift before about 5000 RPM otherwise is will be "tough" on the clutch. Don't forget, read the manual several times!

And then you'll read some of my comments and say: "Did he really say that"? Welcome to SL and my RT-S idles around 1300 to 1400 when I first start it. I haven't the slightest about maxing it.

Easy Dudly, easy. Did you wake up on the rude side of the bed this morning ?

Right around 1400-1450 at idle.
I've hit the rev limiter a few times on some missed shifts and once when winding it out trying to play "catch up" with a group I was riding with. Like the others have stated it's just over 9k. This is a VERY conservative mechanical limit for this motor. Some Aprilia bikes are 11k and those guys say their motors make max hp at @10k and max torque at @8k.
It's just an eerie feeling when you hit the limiter.....:opps:

It's not eerie...
It's :cus: terrifying! :yikes:

"What did I just break now?"

The whole bike just stops pulling and plays dead!
