• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RPM's

Hello spyder lovers.I have a question that needs asking. At 55 MPH my tach shows 4000 RPM's. Is this the way all of them run. Also My brother and I went for a ride today. He has a Valkyrie. I had on Speedo. 87 miles and he had 78 on his. Quite a difference. Any help here. Also I average abouit 37 miles per gallon. What is the MPGallon that anybody else is getting. Outside of Wilkes-Barre PA Thanks:helpsmilie:

The Spyder loves higher RPMs...so you're right in line. If you're getting 37 mpg, you're doing GREAT!!! I've never gotten that good mpg...I think the best I've ever gotten was 35, but that was before all the mods. :gaah:

And... welcome

5th gear, 55 mph, 4,000 RPM is right on the money. The Spyder actually likes higher RPMs, and the 4,000 is about as low as you really want to go. My current shifting pattern is:
1st gear - less than 25 mph
2nd gear - 25 - 35
3rd gear - 40 - 50
4th gear - 55 - 65
5th gear - above 70 mph

There is still quite a bit of breathing room in there as well. As far as top speed gearing goes, I tested up to 9500 RPMs on my SE5:
1st - 52
2nd - 73
3rd - 92
4th - 110
Theoretically 5th should top out at about 130 on my Spyder at this rate. :D

Odometers are always funny and can be quite a bit different between 2 vehicles as well.
