Rt trailer hitch shortage

It seems that the trailer hitch for the rt is in short supply I was quoted march for the earliest I could get it, so I went lookin for it on eBay. I wanted to say something before, I didn't want to lose the auction though. Just won me a hitch with harness for $337 delivered! Now time for a trailer.

My dealer called me last week, and confirmed that the hitches are presently on back-order for a while. He was searching for one for a customer. Apparently the hitches are being redesigned to some extent. I'm not sure what the changes are, or whether they involve the hitch, the wiring harness, or both. Anyway, the design changes have caused the delay.

I bought a trailer from a different dealer than I bought my RTS from so I could get red. However, I did not buy the hitch yet.

It may be that I'll wait to see if they change the new hitches much before buying one now. Who knows what they have changed.

If they change the wiring harness on the new hitch (and their new electrical things run true to form) you might be very happy you have the old hitch...

The changes are said to be minor, according to what BRP told my dealer. I am trying to chase some details, but I would not worry about which version you install. There have already been some little changes since the introduction, that went unnoticed by almost everyone.

I just checked ebay and there are a few trailer hitches available, the prices are a bit higher then what I payed but comparable to the list price.

The only problem I had with my hitch was the wiring module, they had a tendency of shorting out. I lost mine in June and didn't get a new one till September. The long wait was for anew and improved module.

I just received word from a high level contact at BRP. The hitch is, indeed, on back order, but the design is not being changed. The wiring harness was already revised (in 2011?) to accomodate wiring differences in the trailers. No word on when the hitches will be available again, but I don't expect a major delay.

YOU DID GET A GREAT DEAL...AND IT SOUNDS LIKE I WAS A LUCKY ONE ALSO...FOR I JUST PURCHASED A HITCH LAST WEEK FROM A DEALER...HE WAS GOING TO ORDER ME ONE BUT FOUND ONE IN STORE AND IT IS NOW INSTALLED....NOW FOR THE WIRING....BUT I HAVE A GOOD SON THAT WILL GET'ER DONE....ALSO JUST ORDERED A UTOPIA BACK REST....HE WILL GET THAT INSTALLED ALSO FOR ME.....:yes::yes:......
