• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ryker Display Discoveries

Admittedly, sometimes I’m not the sharpest tack in the box. I “discovered” a couple of interesting features of the Ryker’s multifunctional display other day I wasn't aware of when setting back the clock from DST.

Ran into “difficulty” when I got to the selection for 12/24 hour time display. It wasn’t immediately obvious just how to set that because I was doing it before noon. When I checked the time later in the day, the display was in military time. The Owner’s Manual wasn’t very explicit regarding this. When I went to reset the time the next day, I noticed that a small “am” was appearing ON and OFF in the display when I was trying to make the 12/24 hour selection. I never noticed that before. It dawned on me that you wouldn’t need that with the 24 hour clock setting so left it with the “am” present. Once it rolled past noon a small “pm” appeared and the correct 12 hour time was displayed for the rest of the day. Guess I lucked out earlier in the year when I was setting the clock ahead for DST.

DHOO!

When I was reading the Manual regarding the clock, I noticed that it mentioned an icon would be present indicating that the OEM heated grips were on. I had installed these shortly after I got the machine late last year. The display also momentarily shows you what heat level you have selected – something I’d never noticed. The level is changed sequentially when you repeatedly depress the button on the LH grip, so it was always a guessing game where the level was actually set. The instruction Manual that came with the grips wasn’t too clear in that regard, but did say that holding the button down for several seconds would take it to full on, then hitting it once more would take it to the OFF position, and that’s how I was using it; get it to OFF, then step up to the desired heat setting. All this was worded in a confusing manner. Now, after making this revelation, the display tells me exactly what the setting is.

I’m sure there is a lot of other stuff I haven’t “discovered” yet, but I guess we’ll learn as we go.
