There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Sandy is a girl I don't really want to meet!

Well I think you will probably meet her up close and personal according to the latest storm track. Or your flight will be cancelled.

I met her this morning

Flying from Knoxville to Dulles this next Monday evening.... Any thoughts?
Surf is up! The parking lot here at Gilberts is under water and last night the winds were gusting to 50 knots. I live on a 42 foot sail boat so it made for a restless night. Also expect a lot of rain. Thanks for the reply on the filters. I will take care of pay pal this morning.

We are meeting with her right now.Cloudy rainy and windy but not a big problem as she is skimming past us.Surf is right up.Looks highly unlikely but hope she misses y'all.

Sandy is mostly "media hype".

Chris

If it is, they are certainly doing a good job! But I hope you're right!

In case you're not, I'll take the purple line...

I think you will be OK. I live on the Gulf Coast and have been studying these things and encountering them for years. At most you might feel some fringe effects, but the upper air patterns do not support Sandy coming so close for you to feel any significant impacts. You might have some turbulence on your flight but you should be good to go!

Just the same; I'll cast my vote for purple also!
The European storm tracking models were showing a coastline hit around the Chesapeake Bay...
The most accurate of "our" models was pointing a bit more toward Atlantic City this morning...

Time will tell...
Tick...tick...tick...

Now why'd you have to raise my blood pressure on a Friday morning?? :gaah:
I was gonna order take-out pizza for supper!

If the Missus finds out; I'll be eating like a Guinea Pig again! :sour:

2 Of the tracks have it going right over me. The August Hurricane (Last Year) left half the State without power for over a WEEK.
The Pre halloween snow storm (Last Year ) left more than half the State without power for More than a week!
Luckily I only lost power 10 Hours in total?
I,m prepared -Have 4 touchy lights (Batteries) and a MP3 Battery powered Speaker Hub!:roflblack:

I delayed my flight to Ithaca, NY from next week to the following week just in case. :dontknow: The local radio was talked about snow meassured in feet not inches in some areas.

Just listened to TWC from Binghamton NY. He didn''t sound to encouraged about it missing the area. Just finished taking most of our agility equipment down, then filled the generator, the gas cans, and all the vehicles. Can run the generator for about a week if need be. Contracted a tree service 3 weeks ago to cut down 5 trees right close to the house. They haven't made it here to cut them down yet. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:.

Calling for high winds and coastal flooding. We're expected to get wind and rain all weekend into next week. It's windy here now and has rained off and on. Our families live in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and PA. They've already prepared and praying for their safety. Take care, all of you who live in the path. Media hype??? I think not. It's better to be prepared!

I work 3 miles south of Dulles and am willing to bet you are not flying to Dulles next Monday evening. :lecturef_smilie:

There seems to be a bit of disparity in opinion here. Flying into the teeth of this storm on Monday evening (Dulles airport) seems to lend creedence to the 2nd opinion here. I'd say describing it as 'some turbulence' might possibly be somewhat of an understatement! :yikes:

The problem isn't Sandy by herself, it's the coastal storm "bomb" that will happen when she meets up with the low pressure system. You add that to a full moon high tide, winds 80mph + and trees with leaves and you get lots of power outages and flooding. I'm in Southern Maryland and our area already has a state of emergency declared. Sandbags are being handed out and electric companies are already scheduled for 12 hour days and trying to trim trees in problem areas.

We had no power for a week with the hurricane last year (August) and friends had no power for almost two weeks after the derecho storm this June. Down here we have well water so, no power = no water.

Current projections are showing likely landfall in the Delmarva area so you have a lot of land between Dulles and the water but you're right in the "path".
