Star Brite

Thank you for the article Campverdefela. I was just looking through it and it looks like after you strip all of the sales info away you get to see the ingredients. I think I will use the Starbrite startron additive. This is a good read  if you can choke down all the fact and figures. did any one else read this? What do you think?

Interesting reading. I just bought enough Star Brite diesel stuff to last me until the cow comes home :roflblack:. Price was good and per gallon cost is under 2 pennies.

Yes, I am glad to say Marc is still here and as busy as you can imagine.

However, the gas and diesel formulas are NOT the same thing. The diesel formula is stronger and as noted above, is a more concentrated formula. You can use the diesel formula in a gas engine without any harm.

There are two versions of the gas formula - the Marine formula and the Small Engine Formula. The marine version is a more concentrated formula, since boats have large fuel tanks. The SEF formula is easier to use on a bike (1 ounce to 6 gallons) and it is available in a new one-ounce bottle. We call it the Star Tron Shooter.

Star Tron was introduced long before ethanol was added to gasoline. While it is a great way to mitigate the problems that adding ethanol (alcohol) to gas causes, it is also a great way to improve 100% gas, too, if you are fortunate enough to have access to the real stuff.

Star Tron uses enzymes, unlike any other fuel treatment. It allows the fuel to burn more completely, which means engiens start easier and run smoother. It also restores a lot of the power and cruising range lost to ethanol. It also prevents the formation of the gums and varnish that clog carbs an injectors so quickly.

The formula is pretty simple: 95% petroleum distillates (fuel) and the remaining 5% is a proprietary blend of enzymes. The enzymes do all the work - the fuel base allows it to be added to any fuel safely. You can't overdose this stuff. It has 0% alcohol.

Some people believe it is the fuel base that does the work. That'd be a good trick since you only add one ounce to 6 gallons of fuel. One ounce of fuel to 6 gallons of fuel gets you nada. The enzymes are what make the good things happen. It's like Coke or Pepsi in that way - they are mostly water, with the secret ingredients that convert that water into Coke (or Pepsi).

It's tough to compare it to other additives, since it uses enzymes and they don't. It does stabilize fuel, but you need to do more than that. It enhances combustibility, allows water to be dispersed throughout the fuel as very fine particles that can be vaporized with the fuel charge (you can't make water burn or magically disappear) to help prevent phase separation and corrosion. It also removes debris such as gums, varnish and carbon deposits. We back it up with a money-back guantee, but more importantly, we use the stuff in all of our bikes, cars, trucks, boats, lawn mower and gas-powered margarita mixers.

On my 5th tank using this and while it may be helping with gum removal, phase separation and potential ethanol (not sure how I would know) - I don't see any difference in MPG or performance.

I'll keep using the 4 bottles I bought to give it a good test...

where did you get it so cheap...it's quite high on Amazon...32 oz. diesel version about 38.00 delivered!

I contacted the guy on eBay who is selling gallon for diesel and see if he is willing to sell me a case (4 x one gallon) at a discounted price. He end up doing $79 per shipped. The math comes out to be around $0.0193 per gallon ($316 / (4 x 128oz. x 32 gallon)). Would be even more saving if I figure out the fuel for travel and local sales tax.:2thumbs:

Ebay....gotcha...will have to check there....Amazon WAY too expensive!

Interesting instruction on the Star Brite for diesel gallon jug. It says 1oz. for the first 16 gallons then 1oz. for 32 gallons there after. So all I need is 1/4oz. for my 16 gallon gas tank? Holly cow that's cheap. Hope it works as good as it sounds.

Have been looking for the Shooters but no luck. I'm wondering how safe it would be to carry the bottle in the :spyder2: during summer. :dontknow::popcorn:

I wondered the same thing, Bruiser. 100 degree days around here are common in the summer and I would worry about a possible problem there.

BTW, just for fun I went to Auto Zone and picked up some Lucas Octane Boost - the real good stuff. I have never used a fuel additive before and I have not found the Star Brite yet, so I gave the Lucas a try. I am a big fan of Lucas products. SO I opened the bottle and just put a little teeny bit in during fill up...

All I can say is HOLY SHNIKIES!! :yikes: 14 has never run this good. She pulls like I have never felt her pull before. Too soon to tell if it's helping fuel economy yet but one would think it has to be. Kalifornia must be selling some real crap fuel!

Raptor, I looked at the Lucas Booster as well. I used it a few years ago in another truck that I had and it worked very well. I have the Star Tron but just a little lary about the temps. It's been in th mid 90s here already and it's not even June yet.

Pincushion, those bottles look like just the thing. I'll look local to see if I can find something similar. No containor store around here.

Yes, I definitely like those bottles. I lucked out and found a store right near where I work.

Bruiser, I'm pretty sure you can get these online but if you really want some of these and you're stuck I'm sure that since I have a location so close to me we can work together to get you some.

Thanks. I did see where they have them on line. Hazards of living in a small town. No Home Depot, no Costco, no ... We do have three Wal Marts and a Sams :roflblack::roflblack:. The wife and I say we're like Andy and Barney, we have to travel to Raleigh for the big stores. :shemademe_smilie::roflblack::roflblack:

That's not such bad thing Brother! Kathy's Mom and Dad used to live way out in the woods outside of Pine Bluff, Ark. You have to travel quite a ways to get everything out there! But man was it pretty. Dangerous but fascinating. It was pretty funny the first time I went out there, beach burb kid from California and all. Only took about 3 days for the drawl to set in!

Well, the offer still stands if ya need. The container store is having a travel sale; I picked up some bottles for a buck each yesterday.

You could always just buy 5-hour energy drink bottles and re-use them with the Star-Tron in them ---- just don't try and drink em'--- I hear they don't taste so great.... :D
-----------------------------

I've been using the Star-Tron on and off for a month now-- and some of the other gas treatment stuff from the guy that was in Cuba.

I can't say I notice any difference in performance or MPG. Maybe it's helping with the ethanol issues -- no way to know.

One thing that I keep wondering pertaining to the 'enzymes' doing their job--- I could understand for gas that sits a long time, etc.... but how much 'work' could they really do in the 2 hour timeframe it takes to run through a tank of Spyder gas? :dontknow:

Duh, why not just use the 5 hour energy instead? I hear it helps out the mileage! :D

Yes, I seem to recall a certain someone that had a bit of an experience with 5-hour energy bottles and fuel treatment bottles...

Sorry Boss, can't let you live that one down just yet!! :roflblack:

Seriously though, the Lucas Octane Boost kinda rocked! I might just stick with that for a minute and see what happens a few tanks down the road.

Star Tron

I know this topic has been beat to death, but....

I bought a bottle of Star Tron and put about an ounce and half in my 96 Pathfinder. WOW!!! Now my Pathy wasnt running terribly bad, but after adding Star Tron, it runs MUCH MUCH better. I have a Flowmaster exhaust and K&N air filter on it so it can be loud, but just after the 12 mile ride home from the base and pulling into my driveway, all you could hear was the burble of the exhaust and the intake breathing....the engine itself could barely be heard. My Spyder doesnt have any major issues, but I am going to add an ounce to it...just to see. So far in my opinion...Star Tron works.
