• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stebel Horn

I ordered a Stebel horn for my 2014 RT limited today. Can anyone tell me what I need to remove to access the existing horn for removal and installation of the Stebel?
Thanks

Horn

Left side panel. Pulls right off. Beware of the plastic tab. Horn is right there. Plug and play.

The horn is located beneath the left side panel (Page 48 of the manual).

You will love your Stebel!

Do you have to change any wiring when adding the horn?

It's plug and play. Some folks here think you need to a bunch of extra wiring with fuses and relays and such, but I disagree. Mine works just fine and doesn't blow any fuses, even when I lay on it in parades.

(If you search "Stebel" on this site, you will see a passel of posts on this subject.)

Thanks, I was going to install a set of Baker Air Wings tomorrow but I might wait to get a horn first since I will have to pull a panel anyway.

The left side panel is the one that pulls off - no tools necessary - except for patience and a gentle touch. But on second thought you might wait on the Air Wings since you have to remove them to remove the panel. Good luck.

all you need is a somewhat sturdy right angle bracket (Home Depot, Lowes). The horn is weighty (stock brackets too flimsy), so I added cable ties to support it.

I believe the relay should be used to prevent the added current from damaging the very expensive stock horn button. There are inexpensive "plug n play" wiring kits available on Amazon...I purchased the Wolo brand for under $10. The horn comes with a relay though no wiring.

Stebel Installation

I installed the Stebel horn yesterday on my 2014 RT limited and it is better than I expected. It is loud and was easy to install. I used 1/8 x 1-1/2 X1-1/2 aluminum angle about 4 inches long mounted vertically in the location of the existing horn. There was a slotted tab about 1 inch below the mounting hole of the existing horn so I slotted the angle with a jig saw to prevent any binding. Then just drill a hole in the front edge of the angle and install the horn. I used the universal wiring kit from Amazon to prevent any overload on the horn switch. Total cost was about $75.00 including the angle, horn and wiring kit. I am totally pleased and recommend to everyone. Thanks to all members for their input.

Stebel

A nice feature of the Stebel is that, since it takes a brief instant to "spool up" to full volume, a soft little toot can be managed when you only wish to make a polite acknowledgement rather than WAKE SOME ONE UP!
