There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Steering Lock -- NOT -- Help

The steering lock on my 2016 RT has stopped working -- this seemed to happen after the left handle bar control module was replaced (and the frunk / seat cables were swapped). May be just coincidental, but it all seems so suspicious that I am wondering if something didn't go awry during that install. The cables are now back in their proper position and the frunk / seat unlock as they are supposed to. However, the steering will NOT lock ... even with a significant amount of wiggling around the handle bars. It's almost like the pin is not aligned with the hole it is supposed to just slide into -- the dealer agrees that this is a possibility. The picture below shows why we are both wondering .... notice that the whole lock mechanism is "twisted" counter clockwise. I should see an equal amount of the luggage and fuel icons and I don't. Note that it has always been "slightly" tilted like this -- just seems more so since the control change and cable swap.

So, for those that are familiar with this area of the RT .... is the theory about a twisted lock mechanism valid? What, and how long, do you think it will take to fix?

Thanks for your input .... Ann

turn the wheels

howdeeee too texas , from a former Texan , do you have your steering wheels turned too the left when you try the lock ? it is odd that the key location is off ...

With all the work around the bottom of the ignition switch, there's a real good chance that something has gotten in the way of the lock pin, had that happen on my GS.

Bars Are Turned

All the way to the left, or all the way to the right .... and even somewhere in between. No difference, key hits resistance at about 1/4 of the distance it needs to turn.

Thanks .... Ann

Surely your first step would be to get whoever did the handlebar module replacement to go back & refit the ign module straight?? The 'twisted lock' mechanism theory is not only valid, it's almost certainly at least a part of your problem, if not the whole thing!!

Was it the dealer who did that job?? Surely they know how the ign module plus locking pin & the steering shaft must align or the steering lock won't work?!? There shouldn't be any question on their behalf, it's pretty obvious that the locking pin isn't aligned properly with the shaft & that needs sorting.... My question would be "Howinthehelldidthey screw around with the steering shaft so much as to do that?!?"

Take it back in something is not right. That top piece with the icons at the key switch turns and lock in place.
