• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tax Break?

I don't know all the particulars, but do you think the Spyder is eligible?

2,500 for Plug-in Electric Motorcycles or Low-Speed or Three-Wheeled Vehicles

The economic stimulus bill established a 10% tax credit through 2011 with a cap of $2,500 for new electric plug-in motorcycles, low-speed and three-wheeled vehicles. There's also a 10% tax rebate and a $4,000 cap for converting an existing vehicle to a plug-in.

My wife was going to do that, but I thought "only congress members can get away with such a thing"...maybe we should revisit the idea.

My CPA deducted my Spyder sales taxes and such for 2008. It was enough tax savings to almost pay for the Two Brothers dual exhaust I am ordering from Magic Man!!!!!! See how the stimulus works? Hopefully my Spyder will be stimulated with the new exhaust system!!! :2thumbs:

Hey, maybe I'm a big dummy, but I couldn't find the tax information/discussion on Spyderyder. Is there a direct link or can you educate me?

Actually i can't seem to find it now either. It was in the lower corner but now that is showing get a spyder for 199 a month. Not sure if them having it was a mistake or what but it doesn't appear to be on the site anymore.

Cool. Thanks for looking.

You can still deduct your sales tax on motorcycles on your 2009 income tax, even if you don't itemize. There are some limitations, but most folks get the break on any new bike or car.

I realize this is the spyder forum; but, since you brought it up, I have a question. I purchased a new 2008 car in 2008. Are you saying the sales tax is deductible, even on the short form. I thought the sales tax deduct was stopped years ago, unless the vehicle was used for business purposes.

Thanks

This doesn't work for 2008 purchases though, does it? (probably not)...in MD, my sales tax is 6% and if I can correct this year, I will...
I think its from the day the stimulus bill was signed I'm sure they might retro it a kittle bit dealers in CT are already aware of it
