• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The last HoJo

Don't schedule a trip...

This may be the last HoJo's standing, but it's one of the worst restaurants in the area. Except for the name (free brand advertising) there is absolutely nothing reminiscent of the nostalgic restaurant chain. The quality of food and service is awful. Not to mention the rank odor that smacks you in the face when you walk in. The only family to uphold the standards of the chain was the Butler family in Lake Placid (a regular stop for me when I'm in the area). Unfortunately that HoJo's closed this past spring.

Lake George is a difficult area to run a business. The warmer tourist months are the only major traffic through the area. It is not a real four season destination. Almost everything shuts down in the winter. I'm hoping the new owner of this HoJo's listens to his customers and invests a little more in quality and service. This could be a gold mine during the tourist season; enough to keep things going through the winter months.

Don't know. ..!!

About all that but remember the name and seeing them along the highways. Sad to see them go but life moves on. They had a good run like Bob's Big Boy, Stucky's the DC and many more you saw everywhere...:sour:

I used to hit the Ho Jo's when traveling on the road. They were great for that coffee/donut pick me up. Stayed at one of the motels overnight in Sioux Falls SD back in the 80's. The motel was nice but the food was not.

The chains come and go. FYI--Motel 6 is now in a remodeling stage and they are still advertising that they will keep the light on for you. :roflblack:

I was a tad more classy--actually a Motel 8 VIP card holder for a while back in the 80's. Have not been there since though.

As is McCall, Idaho. It does have skiing in winter but the summer is when the bulk of the tourist traffic comes. I ran a small print shop there in 1976 to 1980. Came to the realization that you had to make a 12 month living in a 6 month season with a 3 month economy. THAT is tough!

We stayed at a HoJo's somewhere between PA and ID in the early '70s. I'm sure the meal was a commercial version of a microwave dinner.
