An interesting list. My only encounter with that bunch of cars was a Pinto rental in 1972--while my car was in the shop.

To put a little perspective on this list, when Nader brought out his book, he was in a press conference expounding on how the Corvair "was the single most dangerous car in the world". Brock Yates, a writer at one of the bigger car magazines asked "If the Corvair is number one, what is number two?" Nader couldn't answer, seems all his research was done to make the Corvair look bad.

The Corvair Spyder was made from 1962 to 1964 and had a 150 HP turbo. The 1966 Corsa had the 140 HP four carb motor standard and the 180 HP turbo. As far as being unsafe, I used to autocross my 1962 Monza (still have) and loved the way it handled). In fact I remember a friend of mine taking top time of the day with a modified 1964 Corvair, racing against the fastest sports cars of the time. This was back in the 70s when I lived in Colorado, racing at Englewood speedway.

Had some drove some and seen them all. Whats interesting is that they are not all dangerous for the same reasons. Some are related to the mechanics, some for where they were used, some for who drove them and some because of a witch hunt. Come on the 1905 model could be classified a tractor..those european models were for driving down tiny roads where to speed was 20 mph. But an interesting collection....

True. Guess it was a corsa. I do remember it was a Monza. Bought it used from another GI. However, it was modified with a 140 turbo. I liked the 4 carb setup better. The 180 Turbo would move along pretty good. My ex father in law drove mine while I was deployed. Wrecked it on a desert road between Carlsbad, NM and El Paso Tx. Needless to say I was as heck when I found out.

Well I was one of the lucky ones I guess! I had a 71 Pinto that I crashed a number of times and lucky me it never exploded. I actually really liked that car, for a 19 year old it was great fun to drive and it was my first ever "brand new" car!

I agree with part of the list but part of it is just silly. The Mustang and Corvette are not dangerous cars, but are often owned by dangerous drivers. The Pinto originally had a problem but my Dad had one for years without any issues. And it's been shown that Nader's vendetta against the Corvair was way off the mark.
