• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trade=in and re-sale value 2012 RT

Why not take a peek at Kelly Blue Book's website?
www.kbb.com
They've got a sectuion there for motorcycles...
Good Luck!

Kelly does not have enough data to show a value for the RT. Will take a few more months of sales before they come up with a number.

The $8K worth of mods are worth nothing to an owner who either doesn't want or doesn't like them. In fact things like graphics, lights and paint can actually devalue the Spyder.

My guess would be $19 to $20 thousand depending on mileage and condition.

KBB does not have any values listed yet for the 2012 RT. I suspect there is not enough sales data yet to support their figures. If I had to guess at retail values I would say no more than 70%-80% of MSRP, with a trade-in value of 50%-65% depending on the dealer's motivation. Accessories have limited value...no more than 50% of the original cost, without installation labor (which isn't recoverable, like taxes). Sometimes accessories add nothing at all, they just make the vehicle more attractive to some buyers. Hard to swallow, but most depreciation occurs when you drive off the lot. A 2012 takes a big hit, especially with new ones being heavily discounted at the end of the model year.

On a current year motorcycle, you can expect to lose 25% of the value the instant you drive it off the lot. Accessories are worth between 50% to nothing of the original value. The value books are not very up to date on current year models because not enough sales data has been processed to give a good value.

The value is what someone is willing to pay for it. Generally, you will take a pretty good hit on a current year item in either trade or resale. With the improvements on the new 2013's, the hit will be even greater because the 2012 is now "old news".

I recently sold my BMW K1200lt and before I sold it, I returned it to stock and sold the aftermarket goodies separately and managed to recover everything I paid for the bike two years earlier and "most" of the aftermarket goodies $$$. I would never trade in anything. Take the time and energy and sell it yourself!

prices

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mcd/3313506593.html

with deals like this being offered with new bikes

the value of the spyder that has for the last couple years stayed high compared to most bikes on resale is going to go way down

with the rebates and DEEP discounts some dealers are throwing out there and the NEW ST more spyders are on the market than ever which is driving the prices down

like the add above shows 21999 for a 0 mile white limited or bronze

i have seen adds as low as 15500 for new units

and used spyders are real low now

how about a new rt for 15899

That is very good advice.

From my appraisal course...

As a former jeweler, I was trained by the Gemological Institue of America on Insurance Appraisals (among other things).

Their definition of Value is as follows:

The VALUE of an item is what an "unhurried buyer" and a "non-distressed seller" agree it is.

Fairly simple, once you think about it...
