• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trailer Hitch Install for 2014 RT

I was just told by my dealer that the installation of the trailer hitch is about a 4hr job and that it is necessary to remove most of the rear end to complete the wiring and hitch installation. Have I missed something or has the 2014 RT changed the way the hitch has to be installed?

I think that's BS. I removed mine from my 2011 and installed it on the 14 without a problem. I use my hitch for a flag with a 3x5 on it and use the trailer hookup to light the USA flag at night when we do mission. It takes me about 15 mins .

It used to be a 4hr job when they had the huge round connector. Unless they have changed something major in the back of the RT it should take 30 minutes.

I had my dealer take off the hitch and the old style wiring from my 2011 and install everything over to my 2014 and it didn't take him long. I had other work done at the same time so I can't tell exactly from his bill what the time frame was but I would guess it was all done in about an hour from just looking at his bill and knowing what else he did at the same time.

Hitch Installation

Make sure the delaership doesn't drill through your saddle bag to anchor the wiring receptacle like they did on my 14!!!!!
Supposedly BRP's direction for installation tells them to install the receptacle by drilling a hole in the saddle bag and installing a bolt to secure it!!!!

Wireing harness is simple. Removal of tupperware is the slow part if you haven't done it before. I haven't done it but am planning on it. Good way to learn your machine. I was quoted 2 1/2 hours @$90 an hour labor. BS!

:gaah::gaah::gaah:.....It doesn't take four hours and that includes building the HITCH from scratch...............Mikeguyver

Yap your right 1 hour and 3 beers down to install kit. Dealers are ripe off. You can do it your self, really you can do it...

Took an easy 30 minutes to install the hitch. Once I studied the wiring (30 min), it took 20 min to hook the harness up and route it under the fender. Backed the Spyder up a ramp so I could see!

I was just told by the mechanic at the dealer installing the hitch on a 2014 RT takes about 30 min which was a 2 hour job in previous years.
