There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trying to stay warm...experiences?

I took another listers advice and got hold of Baja Ron about some heated apparel. His response time was far better than the police, pricing was exceptional based on what others charge and I ordered and it was shipped on the same day. I ordered pant's, jacket, controller and some extra wiring pieces. Has anyone ever used heated stuff (I'm sure a lot have) and particularly things from Baja Ron? If so how warm does it actually keep you when riding and its 40* and a damp day? Just curious cause up here in the NW that's about what we get all winter and I had to do something. I was suffering from riding withdrawals. nojoke One other ?, I'm a rather large fellow and the pants are supposed to be able to be worn over your normal pants. It would make it nice riding to work in the morning not having to wear them all day. Any experiences from larger guys in that respect?

Thanks all, great forum.

Roger

I ride year round from 10° to 110°. I much prefer cold to hot. I wear heated jacket liner from First Gear and Gerbing gloves. I also wear a waterproof riding jacket and pants, plus waterproof boots. I stay warm and toasty all winter. I do add long johns under my pants if I am riding over an hour, but other than that heated gear works great! Heated grips help too, as most heated gloves have minimal or no heating elements on the palms.

I don't know Ron's heated gear, but I am sure it is good stuff. No need to miss a day there isn't ice/snow on the ground IMHO.

Oh yeah, I am 5'8" and 250, so fit the size requirement! :opps:

One last thing, make sure your gear has separate controllers for the gloves and jacket/pants. Make sure that the controllers are adjustable as well. You will be surprised how warm you get. I usually do not use my heat until it gets under 40° unless it is raining.

staying warm

I'm good down to ~32, below that it seems can't keep the torso warm enough. Will try layering more but outer jacket is snug. I have the first gear jacket and gloves. Do love to ride but has been down in the 20's and wet in the AM.

I got the the 'First Gear' jacket and pants , so I guess that's a really good thing. Heated grips will be installed at the dealer as soon as they get in.

Thanks for the input, getting warm already.

BajaRon sells First Gear heated clothing which I like better then Gerbings. First Gear is made by Warm and Safe.I have only jacket and gloves,my legs usually don't get cold even on long rides.

Don't have heated gear but always found the old bikers trick of stuffing a newspaper down the front of your jacket has always worked for me to keep my torso warm when riding in the cold.

Heated gear

I have a Warm nSafe jacket liner and it really works for me. I purchased in on over a short sleeve T shirt, and if really cold, my rain liner over this. Warm nSafe discounted it due to my membership in a ST aRiders Group, we may should ask about SpyderLovers.

I got the Warm and Safe Heated Glove Liners from Ron and they are actually better than the RT Low/High Heated grips because I can adjust the Controller so they keep my hands Just right down to Freezing and you get used to being "wired Up".
