I have one, bought a Mid-Rider with driver and passenger backrests.
Pluses:
-- Very comfortable once broken in (a few hundred miles, less than a Corbin from what I hear).
-- Comfort doubled my riding range (went from 150 to 300 miles at a hop on the seat)
-- Easy install (helps to have a second pair of hands to hold the seat for a couple of minutes while you bolt it in, otherwise easy as can be).
-- Nice build quality, no flaws to speak of
-- Backrest flexibility. The passenger backrest is always attached but easily folds down. The driver backrest pops out anytime you don't feel like using it, easy enough to stow in the frunk or leave in the garage.
Minuses:
-- Price. All the aftermarket seats are expensive, though.
-- Vinyl not leather. It's not at all obvious that it's vinyl, it's very nice material and stitching, but still, it's not leather, and it's not customizable to the Nth degree like the Corbin seats or those from other manufacturers.
-- Not waterproof. *Technically* this is true, although I've read of other non-Spyder Ultimate owners doing just fine without using the rain covers for the seat-- they either just risk the seats getting wet, or they apply a protectant/sealer to the seats (like mink oil). Personally, I always use the rain covers-- they're not great, they fit a little weird, but they're actually easy enough to use.
-- As comfortable as they are, they're still not enough-- I tend to supplement the seat with a Beadrider or Airhawk cushion for long distance riding, just to break things up.
-- Some people don't like the seating position. Even with the mid-rider, you're still sitting a little further forward/closer to the handlebars than the stock seat. I'm 5'10"ish, I find it fine enough, but the taller you are/longer your inseam you may not find it a good choice. Also, the seat sits you at a greater angle towards the rear than the stock seat-- no one will ever confuse the seating position with a cruiser, but it's closer to a traditional standard seat. Using the stock handlebars and peg position may not be that comfortable-- I avoided that because I already had 4" risers and floorboards installed. All three work together really nice with the Ultimate.
Bottom line opinion: I'm happy with the purchase. No idea if it's any better than a Corbin or Russell or any other aftermarket seat, but I wasn't disappointed, I feel I got a real good value for the (admittedly high) price.
