There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. VIN number last four digits?

Noobie question: are the last 4 digits of the VIN the production number of your Spyder? I notice folks using numbers to describe their Spyders.
Just wondering. Mine is 1739.

I think the numbers your referring are limited edition numbers not Vin #
Those numbers and 20 cents will get you on the subway in NYC.:ohyea:

Each model designation can repeat the same sequential numbers. Models are designated by transmission, color, and whether they were produced for the North American/European market. In short, except for limited edition models, the number means little...and even for those there is no particular value, except maybe for #0001.

It's right in the V.I.N.
Example: My RT's V.I.N. is 2BXJBKC17AV001837...
Those last six digits in total are the production numbers. Everything else in there describes the Country of origin, manufacturing plant that build it, model, engine, tansmission...

There's a lot of information contained in the V.I.N. I am guessing, but I would imagine that BRP will produce Spyders for the North American market, the European market. and the Asian markets... probably due to different safety/emssions/lighting requirements. They might do a run for each of their markets at a time
They'll also have to switch between the 2 different transmissions within each market...
Now i'm getting a headache!

If these are mfg No's, are those for the European market different from N America models, or are they all consecutive. My RT 2010 (UK) is 0523.
They are not consecutive. Each model designation(color, transmission, market) can repeat the same numerals.

The 10th digit is the model year. From 2000-2009 the 10th digit was a number (0-9). Starting in 2010, the 10th digit is a letter. i.e. A=2010 B=2011 etc.

They are not consecutive. Each model designation(color, transmission, market) can repeat the same numerals.

Hi Scotty,

I have noticed you have said before that the VIN No's can be repeated. Your right, as I have just seen another thread were the owner is quoting the same No as on my bike.

They'll repeat the last six digits; but the "stuff" up front will then differentiate the bikes...

:agree: No two VIN numbers will be 100% identical. The first portion identifies the year and model of the vehicle and the last portion is the sequential build number of that model. For example, a 2008 GS, 2009 RT, 2010 RS, 2011 RT, 2011 RS, etc. could all have the last 4 numbers be 1016 but the first numbers would be different making the VIN numbers different.
