• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a friend that just bought a new 2013 ST-S. He went to get his tag today and they could not pull up the VIN. Any ideas why or what his next step would be?

Not a lot of information to go on in your question. Usually when buying a vehicle from the dealer, they report the VIN. So, did the dealer not report the right VIN, or did the sale not get reported at all? I would go back to the seller.

VIN

Does the VIN on the Spyder match what the paperwork ( vin # ) from the dealer who gave it to him to submit ???????.......It only needs to off by one number or letter to screw it up !!!!..Mike :yikes:

Since he went to get the tag himself, did he have all the info about the new bike with him, like the BRP's Manufacturer’s Certificate/Statement of Origin (MCO/MSO)? If not, then the dealer was probably slow in getting it to the DMV, or the DMV hadn't gotten it input yet. Or, as others have said, the number is wrong somewhere in the records or paperwork. The MSO is what is used to enter the VIN into the great vast DMV world and is the "birth certificate" for a vehicle from which the very first title is created.

I just discovered there is now a national VIN history database at http://www.vehiclehistory.gov/. Every activity related to a title of vehicle is supposed to be in that database, including from insurance companies, junk yards, dealers, DMVs, etc. It's the Federal version of CarFax.

He did check the numbers. Actually had a picture of the VIN off of the bike itself. Sounds like he needs to follow up with the dealer!
