Washing the machine

So thinking about taking the spyder to a car wash. Is that contraindicated from you senior spyder specialist? Thanks in advance [emoji106]

This is a question that has been answered too many times but ok.

First, I know many that take it to a spray wash and do well. This works especially well to remove our brake dust accumulations that cause that brake squealing noise, just make sure that you don't direct the pressure at the electronics, dash area.

That being said, I only use a microfiber towel and one of a few cleaners. I started out using Multipurpsose Pledge and it was just dandy, removed bugs quickly, dirt grease and grime while leaving behind a polished look and deep shine. Then I got a bottle of Lamonsters Diamond Polish and I now use it with the microfiber towel, it just works great.

Ryde on, with a sparkle!

I think you will be fine. Just remember not to spray full pressure in some of the sensitive areas. I actually washed mine at a car wash in Maggie Valley before leaving the rally this weekend. Not really to clean the spyder, but to clean my Doc Humphries Rack before mounting the pack on it for the trip home.

No need

We take cotton towels and soak them in hot water and then drape them all over the Spyder and let it soak for 20 minutes or so. Then we wipe the surface and dry with microfiber towels and then hit it with Lamonster Black Diamond Detailer. We do this after every ryde and we have beautiful results. The key is to not allow the dirt to accumulate.

drying a spyder

Just a tip when I was the spyder at home I use a leave blower to remove water from all the little nooks and crannys.

I guess that I'm too cheap, to pay for using a car wash... :dontknow:
Soap and water at home works just fine for me!

I personally don't like putting water on my machine! Honda has a bike cleaning product that works very well for me! Just spray and wipe!

Don't ride in the rain, huh? :dontknow:

The only time water has caused a problem for me was riding through 1" or 2" of standing water at 30+. Enough got thrown up under the tupperware that the CB radio, not sufficiently water tight from the factory, got wet inside and died.

I find washing any vehicle to be a distasteful chore. I consider it a significant concession to practicality just taking my Spyder to a car wash to clean it off. Super soak, wheel wash, pre-rinse, foam brush, high pressure wash, then high pressure rinse, and I'm done. Paper towels work to dry off my F4 windshield, and my blue jeans dry off the seat quite nicely!!

I don't remember what it was called on the wash menu board, but at an Iowa car wash there was a choice for something like a super pre-clean low pressure spray that worked unbelievably well. Grasshoppers, other bugs, and dirt, loosened up so well I did not need to use the foam brush. Pressure wash and the crud just flew off!

Don't ride in the rain unless I have to! But when I do, I still use the Honda cleaner! Spray n wipe!
STAY DRY MY FRIENDS!

I use soap and water and elbow grease. Also, I don't use the car wash. I use a chamois cloth to dry off my spyder with.

Depends....

If you can control pressure and spray only in a downward motion, like rain, you should be fine. Spraying up under and on controls and instruments with high pressure will lead to problems...microfiber and spray on polish/cleaners work best for me...
