There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mr. Leno sure is a nice guy. So polite and down to earth.
It was sad for me, when he finally, graciously stepped away from the desk.
Rarely watch "The Tonight Show" any more.

Several companies make this stuff now...and a lot cheaper than what he quoted.
Around here we have Ultrashield, there are different names in the industry.
For the Spyder when I checked they didn't have a kit yet, but they could still do it freehand.
The freehand kits require a steady hand and a razor blade...so I opted out.
Had the front of a car done freehand once, problem is you can't tell if they cut your paint til years later when the paint starts to pop. :banghead:

I have the Xpel film on my GT all the way back to the windshield plus the mirrors and areas behind each tire. Also both sides of the magnesium center concole. Stuff works but there are a couple problems. Bug guts etch the film much easier than paint. You need to keep them cleaned off. The film also scratches easier than film so you have to be more careful when waxing or detailing not to leave swirls and scratches.
Replacing the film after a few years can be done but its a tedious process involving steam to dissolve the adhesive as its peeled.

I Was looking to have this done on my :spyder2: next spring when i pull it out, i was told it is not off the shelf but

I have the 3M product on my car and the wife's car. Never had an issue with bug guts. The 3M film does not scratch easy. I've got it all across the hood of my car because the cats hang out in my garage mostly and their sharp claws were wearing out the hood on my new car. Added the 3M clear product and no more problems. You just apply wax right over it with no problem.
I asked about removal and the guy assured me that he's never had an issue. He said they just heat it up with a gun and then begin the process of removing it.
I've thought about taking my Spyder to him and letting him do the front end and of course he'd have to free hand it.

That doesn't sound like something I would want to get into,
The spray on product, seems like it would be a great way of extra protection for my SpYder.
But, I may have someone else apply it for me. I will Try a small spot first, and see how it goes.

Had a clear bra installed on my 2003 350Z and the dumbass dealer/installer razor bladed thru my paint and the entire front end had to be repainted, had 11 miles! My mom had her 2014 Mercedes S550 done a few months back and it cost her $2500! Clear bra'd the entire front end/entire hood and mirrors! yikes!

It is a bit of a pain taping off the areas you want it and getting it applied thick enough.
And my understanding is it may need to be redone every year or two...but that's the price of it being so cheap.
I didn't get mine quite as thick as it should have been, but it has lasted a year.
Im going to redo it as soon as I get some time and see how it goes again...

I venture to guess your version of scratches and mine are very different. I was referring to the very fine lines left behind by wiping with a terry cloth towel and visible only under very bright lights. (I never use terry towels on the GT)
A cat on my hood would have resulted in dead cats, not film.
