• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thank you sir, I am here to take advantage of the vast knowledge and experience. The following will give some idea of what I am working with and going forward I may be asking for help after I check out what has been posted. Thanks again.

I have a 09 Can-Am GS SE5 that was bought new right after a bad bike accident. I had another bike and did not use the Spyder much at all, in fact it’s not even broke-in. It has been in a controlled storage area and to look at it is like show room. It has had the steering drive replaced due to recall, new gas cap and a few other things. I have drained and kept fresh fuel in the tank but it sat long enough for the battery to die, and the battery has just been replaced, and there are no blown fuses.

I now have a new interest in getting it running, I replaced the battery and went through the startup steps. The motor will turn over but would not fire. The first thing to fix, it has the leaky gas line problem with the smell of gas and 3 inch in diameter wet spot of gas under the bottom. Do you have the parts I would need to fix this first before I move on? Please let me know, thanks for whatever help you would care to give, TFK.

I have the OEM Can-Am service manual, and I am a good common-sense mechanic.

Welcome to the Forum RC. (y)

It's best not to ask support questions in this 'Welcome' section for a heap of reasons, so once you get a chance, head on out to the more frequented parts of the Forum, find the right sub-forum for your questions, and post up in there, I'd think the GS/RS General or Shop Talk sub-forums would be your best bet. It does always pay to do some Searching first tho, there's not too much about Spyders that hasn't been asked and at least discussed, if not (extensively) answered since Spyders and this Forum first hit the streets. But if you do get to starting a new thread, briefly ask your question/s in the title, it'll help potential readers know what you expect from the thread, and it'll help anyone else looking for the same sort of info in the future. ;)

All that housekeeping stuff out of the way, there WILL be a lot more info on this out there in the appropriate areas, but a few quick thoughts - Spyders REALLY don't like sitting around unused, and all the electronics are extremely power hungry, so even the slightest lapse in the battery condition could be a problem even if it is enough to maybe start the dash &/or possibly crank it over - and retailers rarely 'properly' charge a brand new battery before installation, expecting you to ride and charge it up a little better pretty much straight away! So even a new battery may not be up to it - if the voltage ever drops below 12v under starting load, start by properly charging the battery &/or load testing and if necessary, replacing it with at least a fully charged 350 CCA 21 A/hr battery (make sure it's been properly charged tho, ie. at least 8 hrs on an appropriate charger BEFORE installation) Then you can move on to things like checking all the wiring for rodent damage, plug leads for deterioration, vents & breathers for blockages, vacuum hoses for age cracks, et al; and talking about age, unless your storage area was a controlled atmosphere facility suitable for tires, with no possibility of UV entry/exposure, and the Spyder was up on chocks, thn thee OEM tires will almost certainly be throw-aways!

But as I mentioned, there's going to be more out there and this isn't the right place for this sort of discussion, so when you get a chance, do that searching and maybe ask in one of the support sub-forums. Looking forward to seeing you out there soon.
