I had to get down to the financial district from Grand Central for a meeting, so I took the #4 subway to Wall Street. The subway car was made by - wait for it - Bombardier. It was quiet, cool air blowing on me, no overheating, no gas fumes, not "hotfoot" or "hotnuts", no D.E.S.S. errors, and I didn't get stranded anywhere. I think that engineers of the two companies, Bombardier Transportation & BRP need to start talking to each other. Yeah, I know, different companies, etc. but one company can build a multi million dollar subways car that will last hundreds of thousands of miles, while the other builds....well, you know.

the new cars were running on the tracks when i was working in the city years ago. the first ones that came to the transit authority were just a little too long for the turns in the stations, there had to be some modifications made to both the cars and the platforms. and what did they do with the old cars, you ask. well here is the answer,,,,,

Actually, I believe they build regional jets - say from Westchester Airport to Chicago, and turboprops - like from DFW to Tyler, TX. I have flown both routes many times, and it's always been a Bombardier plane. Maybe they did build Lears, and boy if you think a :ani29: is expensive, think about what a Lear would cost. More than a subway car I would bet.
