There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What CarPlay compatible app are you using to plan your routes?

Now that CarPlay is working on my 24 RTL, I'm asking what CarPlay compatible app are you using to plan your routes?
I have been using Rever to plan routes, then export GPX to Garmin ZumoXT, which works great. Love my Zumo, but hated BaseCamp.
Rever kind of sucks on CarPlay. I have Apple maps, Google Maps, Waze and Rever on CarPlay.
I am wondering what others are using for route planning and using their CarPlay when riding those planned routes?

I have been using Apple Maps on my Macintosh computer to plan my routes.
In the upper right corner of the Apple Maps application is a box with an arrow pointing up. If you hover over it it says "Share".
Clicking it pops up a list of destinations for sharing the map, one of which is my iPhone SE 2nd Gen. That's where I send the map, which then is available in the Maps app on my iPhone when I'm on my 24 Spyder RT S2S and my iPhone is plugged into the USB port in the glove box.

Prior to the Apple Carplay update being released, I was using Garmin Basecamp on my Mac to plan my routes, and then syncing them to a Garmin Zumo XT.

Thanks Racoon. I don't have a Mac, yet. Have not completely drank the coolade, yet. But, since my Android was 6 years old and beginning to fail, and I just bought the 24 RTL in August, I had to try to get the 10.25" screen to work with CarPlay, so I replaced my android with iPhone 16 Pro Max. But the darn thing is too big for the "glove box". I put it in there anyway since I am trying to avoid putting so many devices on the handle bars.
Rever with Carplay has no ability to use you finger to move the map around. When I touch the screen, while still in my garage, the map screen start moving northeast, so to speak. And the search on Rever does not find some very popular restaurants. I can type, very slowly, the address and it will find it. Typing response is so slow on the RTL screen. Not sure if that is Rever or CarPlay fault. I will look for Apple Map application for Windows.

When I tried to use Google maps on my iPhone with my 2020 RTL, I found it stopped working for a while in West Virginia, because there was no cell service. It appears that Google maps, in order to save space on your iPhone's hard drive, only downloads some of the map you are using as you need it and deletes unneeded maps, as you move along. But, no cell data service equals no maps. I have 30+ GB of space on my phone. Does anyone know of a map app that gives you the full maps?

Sygic. Off-line maps, downloaded by state and all contained on your phone. CarPlay as well as BRP Go compatible. Yeah, I know. Nobody, or almost nobody uses BRP Go. Also, another useful CarPlay App is My Radar. Useful weather radar but internet connection obviously needed.

Since you have an iPhone, are you using iTunes for Windows with your iPhone? Hopefully yes, because it makes things a bit simpler.

Use Google Maps on your computer to create a route. You can then save/export the route as a GPX file.
You then use iTunes file sharing to import the GPX file, and select Apple Maps as the destination map app on your iPhone.

Another option (which I've never tried, so I have no idea if this makes sense) is an app called GPX-Viewer. You use the GPX-Viewer app to import the GPX file you created, with the Apple Maps app as the destination. If you email the GPX file to yourself and then use the Mail app on your iPhone to read the email you can long-press the GPX attachment, select Share when it asks what you want to do with it, and choose the GPX-Viewer app.

Both Apple and Google maps let you download offline maps. I have done this with Apple Maps for all the mountainous areas near me. That way if you're out of cell coverage you still have maps. What you cannot do is start a new navigation route though if you're in one of these areas. But it works fine for riding through these areas to provide maps at least.

Thanks, I will give Google maps a try. I know my iPhone does have the GPS built into it, just needs the maps.

I use InRoute. It's IOS only and uses Apple Maps. I use my iPad to plan trips and they then automatically show up in the app on iphone. It works very well with CarPlay. It's got too many features to list here. Routes can be quickly edited/changed right from the app.

I use Scenic, not only for the Spyder but also the car. It has a bit of a learning curve but I like the 4 options you have for initially planning a route.

The guys I ride with all use it so we can trade routes plus when I ride with someone else who’s lead I can record the route he’s running.

I do tend to use Google maps for just everyday planning. It’s quick & easy.

I also use InRoute. It is easy to create a route on there. Then you can export your route either through mail, message, AirDrop, or Garmin Drive. To send it to your Garmin XT, just select Garmin Drive, and then Garmin Drive will send it to your XT.

I use Gaia GPS free version. Used to use the premium version but when the price almost doubled and I stopped riding off-road, I switched to free mode. It's easy to generate a route on you computer which automatically is transferred to your phone or tablet. You also have the option to generate a track of your ride and save it.,
