What's the Best Sounding Exhaust for my RTL?

RULINGCHAOS

New member
I have been searching, looking and listening to video after video of exhaust systems for my 2016 RTL.

Seems the ones that sound the best to me are all for the Ryker or the F3.

Voodoo sounds nice, wont work.
RLS Assassin series sounds nice, wont work.
The RLS Punisher for the F3 sounds better than the RTL.
Two Brothers sounds pretty nice. That might work.

I like it deep and not raspy. Has anyone found the perfect exhaust note without sacrificing power?

I have an F3, with stock exhaust, and RLS cat delete, after struggling with the same issue as the topicstarter, mucho trail and error, I found that this is the best combo. not too loud, but just the sound as I like it.
Exhaustnotes are different for everyone, but for me this combo works.

Don't hesitate to contact Ricky from RLS, he's very helpfull

My 2020 RTL has an Akropovic exhaust, mated to an RLS Cat Delete pipe. Low and rumbly, loud with more than 50% throttle thru the gears.

I should have specified that this is exactly what I have also. I would love it deeper though. I will look into RLS.. they seem to have the widest array of units I like.

Best exhaust is in the "ear of the operator", mine is just fine the way it is. If I wanted it to sound like a Harley or a Caterpillar, I would not have bought a Spyder! .... .. Bill

After attending a few rallies and hearing various machines fire up and take off, I have come to the conclusion that the best-sounding exhaust system is ... STOCK.

Yeah, it's not really very inspiring, but the three-cylinder exhaust cadence is so ... industrial, and does not seem to be enhanced by making it louder.

I have not ridden near (or ON) any of the louder bikes to see how they are on the road, but based on what I hear from my wife's '17 RT, I really would not want much more.

That is a great description. It kinda does sound that way.

RLS exhausts are raspy. I run a Two Bros with the stock cat. It sounds great and actually runs very quiet at highway speeds. It is louder running through the gears.

Two Bros is my other option. I contacted the guy from RLS and was interested to see if the Twin Kaos Series 2 was available for the RTL and he said the interest was not there for production. Sucks because I like the sound of it on this video.

.....

Yeah, not only would there be not enough interest for production of pipes like that for an RT, but having tried other mufflers that were of a similar (short) length as the one pictured, I can tell you that if that's the Twin Kaos Series 2 pictured, then as shown it is simply too short for an RT with built in panniers, and I can tell you that the bottom of the RHS pannier WILL melt if you run a short muffler like that under it for too long!! Do you really need to ask me how I know that little snippet of knowledge for a fact?! :banghead:

So I'd suggest that anyone running a muffler (any muffler) that doesn't have its final exhaust gas outlet/exit directed down & out away from the pannier & located far enough behind/away from the bottom trailing edge of the fixed pannier simply won't have a pannier for too long after & possibly won't even have a bike left if the heat on the pannier reaches ignition temperature!! Unless maybe they never ride for more'n about 10 minutes at a time!! :dontknow:

Just Sayin'

At the end of the day, there's only one person that tell you what you will like, and that's you. Myself the stock stuff works for me; I don't want to wear ear plugs while I ride out in the country side. To each his own, good luck in your quest!:coffee:

Thank you for that. It's not something that I considered. I guess it's Two Brothers for me. That's the style that I suppose will work given that scenario.
